PROGRAM SUMMARY
Plaza de la Raza Child Development Services, Inc. (Plaza) is a comprehensive early childhood education program with a focus on school readiness for children zero to five years of age. Developmentally appropriate services are provided for children from low-income families, zero to five years of age. Plaza de la Raza currently serves over 700 children and their families.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The Home Base Supervisor leads and shares responsibility for planning, organizing, and implementing the care, development, and education of typical and atypical developing infants and toddlers from birth to 3 years of age. Responsible for implementing a quality early education program that fosters positive relationships between parents and children and reinforces the value of the parent as the child's primary teacher. Ensures that home-based visitors fully comply with the policies and procedures of Plaza de la Raza, Head Start Performance Standards, state and local regulations and Grantee Instructional Memos (GIMS). This position monitors the completion of home visits and socializations through observations and audits home-based files and data entry.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A. Education
Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4-year college or university in early childhood education, social work, human services or related field, including 12 units of early childhood education/child development core courses indicated in the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC), Child Development Permit Matrix.
Valid California Child Development Site Supervisor permit or higher. Six semester units with a focus on infant and toddler development; three units of which may be obtained during the first 12 months of employment.
Must have a current CPR and First Aid certificate.
B. Experience
Three years of experience as a teacher in a licensed childcare center or a comparable childcare group program serving children under five years of age, including one or more years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
C. Physical Demands
The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met, or are encountered, by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee may frequently lift and/or move a minimum of 25 pounds up to 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
D. Medical Examination
Prior to the first day of employment, employees must submit an initial health screening, Tuberculosis (TB) skin test or chest x-ray clearance, immunization records for Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR), Pertussis (Whooping Cough), and Influenza, if applicable. If opting not to take the Influenza vaccination, an Influenza Vaccination Declination Statement must be submitted.
E. Fingerprint Clearances
All potential employees will be subject to obtaining fingerprint clearances from the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Child Abuse Index, and Megan's Law search prior to starting work.
F. Other Special Requirement
Must have the use of an automobile with adequate insurance coverage, a validCalifornia driver's license or have available private transportation.
