Overview

Goldbelt, Incorporated is an urban, Alaska Native, for-profit corporation with offices in Juneau, Alaska and Herndon, Virginia. Its primary purpose is to manage assets and conduct business for the benefit of its 3,900 Alaska Native shareholders. We are now accepting applications for the 2023 Season. SUMMARY Goldbelt Tram is seeking a Lead Barista. The Lead Barista is responsible for maintaining a positive work environment while ensuring quality experiences for both our customers and team members. The Lead Barista has advanced knowledge of coffee products and equipment. The Lead Barista will prepare drink orders, train entry level baristas, encourage safe work practices and order inventory with manager approval.

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  •  Ability to meet time and attendance requirements.
  • Ability to work all different shifts including holidays and weekends.
  • Ability to handle stress under pressure.
  • Ability to provide quality customer service.
  • Ability to operate technical equipment (espresso machine and cash register). Knowledge and skill in making a large variety of coffee drinks
  • Ability to accurately exchange money with the customers.
  • Ability to reconcile all cash and money at the end of the day.
  • Ability and willingness to maintain a clean, healthy, and safe working environment. Ability to coordinate multiple activities with attention to detail Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision This position requires heavy customer contact and excellent customer service skills.
  • A positive focus and customer service skills are needed to ensure the return of our customers.
  • Knowledge of customer service techniques.
  • Establishes and maintains a cooperative working relationship with all team members and management.
  • Skills and ability to work directly with the public, providing information and assistance daily.

Minimum Qualifications:

  •  Ability to successfully pass a background check.
  • Must be 16 years of age or older. One (1) year of experience in specialty coffee and the coffee industry.

Preferred Qualification:

  • State of Alaska Food Workers Card.
  • Completed a Barista Training Program.
  • Food and Beverage Management Certification.

WORKING CONDITION Constant movement in/out of an aerial tramway cabin up/down an 1800 ft. elevation; constant public interaction and communication; constant exposure to extreme heights, and periodic exposure to dangerous equipment during emergency evacuations or power failures. Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds, constant bending, lifting, stooping is required to maintain adequate supplies. The Tram is a non-smoking facility with designated outside-smoking area.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

  •  Oversees the training for entry level Baristas.
  • Provides quality customer service by greeting customers with a smile, remembering drink orders, and saying thank you with each interaction.
  • Safely handles all hot and cold drinks during drink preparation.
  • Maintains a clean, organized work environment and is responsible for distribution of products.
  • Provides guidance and actively sets an example for team members, assuring that Standard Operations Procedures are followed.
  • Responsible for maintaining high sanitation standards and proper hygiene habits at all times. 
  • Restocks shelves; conducts ongoing inventory; prepares purchase orders for manager approval.
  • Performs all POS duties, including opening and closing procedures.
  • Establishes effective and positive communication amongst all team members.
  • Be proactive in solving customer problems and satisfying customers in various situations.
  • Ability/willingness to learn and pass on to passengers those areas of interest to visitors, such as local history, people, culture, geography, etc.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
