Nunes Cooling, Inc. has an immediate full-time position for a hard-working Maintenance Technician. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for managing the activities of the maintenance department to keep building and all refrigeration and MH equipment in a proper state of repair and compliance. This is done in order to reduce mechanical downtime, maintain product flow and any production lines running at maximum while being compliant with all applicable regulations. The Maintenance team’s performance is critical to the success of the operation. Strong leadership skills ensure high caliber/quality performance in a timely and effective manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following as well as other duties and responsibilities, which may be assigned.

• Must be willing and able to take the lead when the supervisor is away.
• Maintain the ammonia refrigeration systems.
• Sets up and breaks down mobile cooling equipment at the beginning and end of each season.
• Repair and maintenance of material handling equipment.
• Repair and maintenance of refrigerated warehousing production equipment.
• Repair and maintenance of building, equipment, racking and related systems.
• Maintain building internally and externally to ensure company security.
• Maintenance of vacuum cooling and icing equipment.
• Respond to emergency repairs as needed. Call-outs nights and weekends (on a rotating schedule).
• Maintain accurate preventative maintenance records.
• Keep work area clean and perform housekeeping duties as needed.
• Follow all facility and OSHA required protocols including wearing appropriate PPE for each task.
• Follows company policies and practices while representing Company in an ethical and business-like manner in all interactions with employees, government agencies, growers, customers, and others.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Five years’ experience in the Cooling Industry
• RETA CIRO and CARO (preferred)
• Must have experience in industrial refrigeration systems.
• Must have experience with vacuum cooling systems.
• Must have strong electrical/mechanical skills including PLC operation and troubleshooting.
• Must have background in Regulatory Compliance.
• Must have good communication skills.
• Must be a self-starter and strong work ethic.
• Attention to detail.
• High school diploma or GED
• Willing to travel to multiple locations throughout California, Arizona and Nevada periodically.
• Must possess a current valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record.

• Temperatures in the cooler are 32-34 degrees F.
