Driver/Senior Trip Leader
The Glen Ellyn Park District is seeking a dynamic and responsible individual to fill the newly created role of Driver/Trip Leader! This position will be responsible for driving our 14-passenger vehicle and serving as the Trip Leader for our Active Adult/Senior trips and programs. The ideal candidate will be friendly, safety oriented, and enjoy creating memorable experiences and interacting with those who are older seeking connection, community, and a little adventure in their later years. What a fabulous way to give back to your community while proving opportunities for fun, education, and interaction through a variety of activities!
Hours: Hours will vary based on the trips and programs requiring transportation and the duration and distance involved. Flexibility is needed however the majority of events are planned well in advance.
Scheduled Trips to Date:

• • April 19th- 8:30am to 2:30pm
  • May 1st- 12:30pm-6:00pm
  • May 23rd- 9:00am-3:00pm
  • June 13th- 8:30am-5:30pm
  • June 26th- 9:00am-5:00pm
  • July 25th- 12:00pm-6:00pm
  • August 20th- 8:00am-3:00pm

JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction and supervision of the Manager of Cultural Arts, Camps & Seniors, the PT Driver/Trip Leader will primarily be responsible for driving the 14-passenger vehicle while ensuring smooth transportation and participant safety and satisfaction. Will be responsible for conducting regular inspections and monitoring fuel levels for the vehicle. Trips and activities are generally within a 30-mile radius and might include local museums, cultural performances, restaurants, etc. Will assist with facilitating the trip, coordinating meet-up times and locations, taking attendance, and keeping track of the senior participants while assisting patrons who may need an extra hand. As available and interested, may assist with other Active Adult/Senior events and programs. This is an at-will position.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING:

• • High School diploma or GED.
  • Must be over the age of 21 and possess a valid IL driver's license with a clean driving record and preferred experience and comfort driving passenger vehicles, preferably a 14-passenger van.
  • Previous driving experience is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills with ability to engage and work effectively with diverse groups of people.
  • Creative problem-solving skills with the capacity to adapt to changing priorities and environments while handling unexpected or difficult circumstances calmly and effectively.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, and weekends, to accommodate trip/event schedules.
  • Must be a self-starter who is responsible and dependable with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Possess strong safety awareness and utilize sound judgment in all aspects of this position.
  • CPR/AED/First Aid certification is required or capacity to obtain within 2 months of hire. (GEPD will provide)
  • Local resident and/or familiarity with the Glen Ellyn community/area is a plus.
