Job Description and Duties

Under the supervision of the Director of the California Education Resource Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CERCBVI), the Staff Services Analyst (SSA) supports the Director, Assessment Center, Assistive Technology Center, and Low Vision Clinic and Classroom. The SSA is responsible for a wide variety of tasks including key responsibilities in our application process to identify and accept students, making purchasing decisions in assistive technology hardware and software based on analysis of inventory which this position will be responsible for creating and maintaining; analyze expenditures within the Education Resource Center and creating a budget to track purchases and travel; set-up and distribute blindness and low vision curricula and technologies to local educational agency representatives throughout the state including creating and distributing how-to guides that walk teachers of students with visual impairments and orientation and mobility specialists to access curricula and materials provided by the education resource team; assisting other Education Resource Center members in marketing and improving programs offered through the CERCBVI and with the California School for the Blind (CSB).

The Staff Services Analyst is responsible for developing and coordinating key positive relationships on campus and with members of the public encountered through outreach. The incumbent must possess good judgment; strong analytical, organizational and electronic spreadsheet and data collection skills; good marketing production and distribution skills; the ability to effectively communicate with supervisor, staff, and public; be self-motivated to ensure goals are met and assignments are completed in a timely manner; be innovative and open-minded to establish new and different processes and policies to support the Education Resource Center's mission, vision and goals.

Working Conditions

Will work in a temperature controlled environment with LED lighting. May predominantly sit at desk or use sit/stand desk during normal working hours to perform daily duties, and may be required to lift and carry document boxes weighing up to 25 lbs. This position may be kneeling, squatting, bending, reaching overhead/above shoulder level, sitting. May be around blind or visually impaired students. May be required to escort student during fire drills or emergencies. This position is also on an open school campus and may be around service animals.

This position requires the following pre-employment clearance:

* Tuberculosis (TB) Risk Assessment and or Test

* Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and Department of Justice (DOJ) Fingerprint Clearance.

Department Information

The California School for the Blind provides intensive, disability-specific educational services to students who have primary learning needs related to their visual impairment. The school serves as a statewide resource to provide expertise to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and families in evidenced-based assessment, specialized curriculum, cutting-edge research and technology, and innovative models of instruction that prepare students for adult life.
