POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* The duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

* Performs manual and/or automated scoring of polysomnographic (sleep) recordings.

* Performs research experiments under the direction of the PI and has responsibility for data collection and analysis.

* Performs other laboratory experiments and duties at the request of the PI.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITES:

* Skill in performing standard procedures for basic laboratory tasks such as weighing, measuring, cleaning, and recording data.

* Knowledge of manual scoring of polysomnographic (sleep) recordings is highly desirable.

* Experience working with rodents in a research setting is desirable.

* Ability to make routine dilution and chemical calculations.

* Ability to organize and maintain electronic databases.

* Working knowledge of computers using databases, operating systems, spreadsheets and word processing.

DUTIES:

* Coordinates and participates in a variety of duties to assist investigators in data collection, verification, and compilation of research information related to various fields of research which may include behavioral, community based and/or clinical research as requested.

* Assists in planning and conducting research studies.

* May assist in recruiting and screening research subjects for various studies.

* Conducts sample handling and data collection.

* Under general supervision, performs a variety of defined research and laboratory tests and experiments according to prescribed protocols and assigned schedules. Sets up experiments as prescribed by a principal investigator.

* May be responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment and inventory.

* Assists in the development and formulation of project reports, studies and other technical documentation.

* Composes correspondence, instructional material, reports, and other confidential material.

* Manages and monitors data, and reconciles data discrepancies for quality assurance of the research project/study.

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's Degree in Medicine, Science, Biology, Chemistry or related science.
