Tumaini DC, Inc. is Hiring a Part-Time Summer IT + Cyber Security Instructor for High School Students Near Washington, DC

Tumaini DC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that transforms communities and schools through trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and healing-centered Social and Emotional Learning curricula, training, and programming. The Tumaini Way, our evidence-based SEL curriculum and implementation model has transformed climate and culture in schools and community-based organizations in the US and abroad.

The Kazi Academy: IT and Cyber Security Program will run from July 1st to August 2nd, 2024. As our Tech Coach, you will guide students through the process of introducing students to IT and Cyber Security, preparing students for the CompTIA certification and exposure to tech careers.

  • Curriculum Development: Design and develop a comprehensive curriculum for the IT and Cyber Security program, ensuring alignment with program goals and objectives.
  • Instructional Delivery: Deliver engaging and interactive lessons to students, covering topics such as IT fundamentals, network security, ethical hacking, and data protection.
  • Hands-On Training: Facilitate hands-on labs and activities to reinforce theoretical concepts, providing students with practical experience in IT and Cyber Security tools and techniques.
  • Individualized Support: Provide individualized support and guidance to students, catering to their learning styles and needs, to ensure understanding and mastery of course material.
  • Assessment and Feedback: Develop and administer assessments to measure student progress and achievement, providing timely and constructive feedback to support student growth.
  • Mentorship: Serve as a mentor and role model for students, inspiring them to pursue careers in IT and Cyber Security, and providing guidance on career pathways and opportunities.

The instructional position offers a compensation of $700 per week for the summer academy. The program will be held Monday to Friday from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM at Ron Brown College Prep High School, with Fridays dedicated to experiential learning activities. Fridays are reserved for experiential learning based field trips and experiences, led and planned by the instructor.

The curriculum will follow weekly themes focusing on self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, responsible decision-making, and communication. By the end of the program, students will be equipped with essential skills and knowledge in IT and Cyber Security, ready to explore diverse career options and obtain a certification.
