The Community Youth Center of San Francisco (CYC) provides the youth of our city a sense of belonging and vital tools and experiences to succeed in life. Our services include academic support and college counseling, job placement and employment training, substance use and violence prevention education, crisis intervention and mediation, leadership development, technology and computer training. Our mission is to encourage a diverse population of high-need young people to explore their full potential through academic, career, family, and community life.

Position: SRO Bilingual Program Clinician

Salary: $31- $35 per hour plus benefits

Reports to: Program Director

Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Under the supervision of the Program Director, the SRO Bilingual Program Clinician/ Mental Health Therapist is responsible for providing clinically appropriate therapeutic support services to youth between the ages of 11 – 21 and their families, residing in Single Room Occupancy (SRO) and/ or low-income housing within San Francisco Chinatown. The position will provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed, client-centered services, with an emphasis on evidence-based treatment models. These may include such models but are not limited to: Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Restorative Retelling, and Mindfulness-based practices.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide clinically appropriate therapeutic support services for youth of all races/backgrounds between the ages of 11 – 21 and their families, which include clinical assessment, screening, diagnosis, treatment planning, progress notes and discharge planning etc.
  • Provide individual, family, group therapy with identified families, including parent emotional support and training.
  • Develop and conduct activities that address each youth’s unique social, emotional and behavioral needs through skill development in such areas.
  • Provide case management services for comprehensive services and linkages, advocate for client and family access to services, and collaborate with all systems involved with the family.
  • Deliver services in a manner convenient to families which may include occasional home visits or evening calls.
  • Work with the parent/family to motivate and reinforce their child’s behavioral changes.
  • Maintain clinical documentation in compliance with agency-required standards.
  • Act as liaison between all systems (i.e. schools, Juvenile Probation Department, Public Defender’s Office, community partners) and CYC.
  • Contribute to any quality improvement/outcome measurement tracking, development, and data gathering as assigned.
  • Make appropriate referrals to CYC programs and other agencies.
  • Other duties as assigned by Management.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in psychology, therapy, counseling or social work field plus minimum of one year of direct experience working with youth, preferably including counseling and group facilitation. Note: This position will be supervised by licensed Clinical Psychologist who can provide supervision for Masters or Doctoral level students or graduates still accumulating hours for graduation or licensure (with BBS or Board of Psychology).
  • Experience working with Asian-Pacific Islander (API) youth and families with mental health issues
  • Excellent oral and written communication Bilingual/bicultural (Cantonese or Mandarin).
  • Experience using Avatar (SFDPH electronic record) is a definite plus
  • Knowledge of community-based agencies in San Francisco
  • Excellent oral and written communication Bilingual/bicultural (Cantonese or Mandarin).
  • Ability to work with ethnically diverse groups of low-income youth
  • Commitment to taking regular Covid-19 health tests as required by program health and safety guidelines and/or current health directives.
