QUALIFICATIONS :

Be at least 16 years old and prefer minimum of a high school diploma.

SPECIAL DEMANDS :

You must have a genuine interest in working with geriatric residents. You must have a willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continuous basis, and perform tasks despite frequent interruptions. You must have the ability to perform tasks with consideration for residents in your work area. You must have a good bedside manner.

The trainee must complete the required hours for the Nurse Aide Training Program. Any hours missed will be made up before the final examination is given.

At least 16 hours of instruction will be provided prior to the trainee’s direct involvement with a resident. All clinical skills presented in this course must be accurately return demonstrated to the instructor by the trainee before the skills can be performed on the floor. The trainee will be clearly identified as a “trainee” during clinical instruction.

The trainee will receive a small test on material presented periodically throughout the course. At least 80% must be scored on each test. A final examination will be given at the end of the course. 70% must be scored on this test as well in order to take the state certification test.

The trainee shall complete training and testing within 60 days of hire.

State certification written examination and clinical skills will be conducted by an approved proctor or testing firm.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

While participating in the Nurse Aide Training Program, the student is under the supervision of the Nurse Aide Training Program RN Coordinator and the Nurse Aide Training Program Instructor. The class will be taught using an approved curriculum as outlined in the lesson plan. Both classroom instruction as well as clinical instruction will be provided. (See DHH approved lesson plan for details). All clinical skills presented in this course must be accurately return demonstrated to the instructor by the trainee before the skills can be performed on the floor. 14. Care of Fingernails for non-diabetic residents only

15. Care of Toenails for non-diabetic residents only

16. Assistance With Dressing and Undressing

17. Moving a Resident in Bed Manually; Supine, Fowlers, Side-lying, Turning, and Sitting

18. Transferring Manually from Bed to Chair/Commode/stretcher/car and Back

19. Proper Use of Vera & Vander lifts, transfer belt

20. Proper Use of Siderails (partial, M-Rail) Monitoring
