About the Role
Working directly with senior G2 leadership and clients, the role offers a unique opportunity for Associates to provide impact throughout all phases of a deal from inception to close all while gaining valuable client-facing experience. The role is an entrepreneurial one where candidates will be working alongside various industry and product leaders assisting them with marketing and business development-related objectives including market analysis and research, financial analysis, pitch book preparation, and maintenance of industry M&A activity reports. 

Location:  Boston, MA or San Francisco, CA office locations
Workplace Model : At the time of this posting, G2 currently operates in a hybrid model with 3 days required in the office. These in-office requirements may be adjusted based on the needs of the business. 

Essential Job Responsibilities

• Assist G2’s M&A transactions teams in the build-out of comprehensive strategic company market landscapes for M&A-focused mandates, incorporating a strong ability to understand at a high-level a strategy, market position, industry value chain, operating, and financial characteristics required for mandate execution
• Support industry and company diligence for G2’s M&A, financing, restructuring, and marketing needs; provide comparable research to teams that is clean, error-free and client-ready
• Prepare financial models (LBO, DCF, etc.) for G2 clients across industries and sectors to support mandate processes
• Analyze financial data to build financial models, review direct equity investment and M&A transactions
• Synthesize and articulate inputs required for the investment thesis
• Collaborate in the development of marketing collateral for G2 mandates including sale processes, financings, assessments, and deal pitches
• Develop subject matter expertise in key research tools, including but not limited to CapIQ
• Maintain G2 transaction lists for key sectors
• Compose and deliver quarterly sector research reports for external distribution
• Exhibit grace under pressure when working with extreme deadlines
• Work cooperatively with team members toward a shared goal
• Be available to provide timely communication to internal and external stakeholders on engagements as and when required
• Independently manage competing timelines and priorities accordingly on engagements

Skills and Experience We Look For

• 2 years of demonstrated experience and knowledge in an M&A investment banking environment with transaction and execution experience 
• Financial modeling and analytical skills, including knowledge of financial accounting
• Proven experience building out a comprehensive market analysis, including but not limited to: comparable company analysis, assessment of key metrics and interpretation of data, identifying, key characteristics of industries, segments, or business models, identifying clear competitors (or substitutes) of a company/service/product, identifying clear strategic buyers or sellers of a specific company/service/product, and ability to build, execute and communicate; value chain analysis, supply chain analysis, and market sizing
• Strong experience producing high-quality marketing collateral including pitch books, confidential information memorandums, management presentations, and financial models
• Intellectually curious about understanding how things work; applies the right analysis to get the desired information to achieve results 
• Strong work ethic with an enthusiastic, proactive, self-motivated positive attitude 
• Exceptional business acumen including listening, written, and oral communication skills with a strong demonstrated ability to manage-up and across with various stakeholders
• Ability to work in key client-facing roles and develop healthy, productive relationships with clients and prospective clients over the course of the origination and engagement process
• Deep knowledge of Microsoft Office especially Excel and PPT

California applicants: The base salary range for this position is $110,000 - $115,000. Consistent with applicable California law, compensation may vary and will be determined based on but not limited to, the skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant along with the requirements of the position. This base salary represents the estimated minimum and maximum for this position at the current time of this posting. An employee may also be eligible for a bonus to be paid quarterly based on individual performance.
