Frontage Laboratories Inc. (Frontage), is a global contract research organization with broad expertise in supporting pre-clinical and clinical drug development. Frontage operates out of several different locations within the USA, Canada, and China. Frontage’s core competencies include drug metabolism, pharmokinetics/ pharmacodynamics (PK/PD), safety and toxicology, bioanalytical services, chemistry and manufacturing controls for drug development, and core laboratory services for clinical trials.

Position Summary

The Sr HVACR technician is a campus-wide, full-service position focused on repairing, installing, replacing and testing pipes, fitting, HVAC/plumbing equipment, hot water heaters, washing systems and low pressure and high-pressure steam heating systems using hand tools and testing instruments. Responsible for repairing and replacing pumps, packing, mechanical seals, bearings, etc. This position is considered essential personnel by the company.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES A) Essential Duties
  • Promotes and utilizes all available and necessary personal protective equipment
  • Ensures all work is done in the safest possible manner. Proactively requests additional safety equipment as needed to continue working in the safest possible manner.
  • Observes all safety regulations and policies.
  • Lays out jobs by providing details on types of material, material list, installation instructions and placement of equipment, pipe, duct, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and repair the following equipment at an advanced level: Boiler Systems, Pumps, Chillers, Air Handler Units, Electronic and pneumatic valve controls, Heat Pumps, Air Conditioners, Steam Valves, and Emergency generators (also inspection and installation)
  • Measure, cut, thread and solder piping.
  • Repair and maintain equipment steam production/distribution systems and electrical pneumatic controls.
  • Repair and maintain Chillers, Air Handlers and associated equipment.
  • Operate remote boiler operations throughout the campus apart from campus two steam generation plants. Take readings, conduct regular chemical test, perform preventative and regular maintenance.
  • Prepare and install fixtures and controls.
  • Silver solder pipe in size up to 4" in diameter.
  • Able to braze piping.
  • Experience operating Direct Digital Controls (DDC)
  • Operating and troubleshooting Building Management Systems (EMS) experience with Siemen’s Systems.
  • Responds to work orders in a timely manner.
  • Use the work order management system to open and close work orders.
  • Able to function with a minimal amount of supervision.
  • Observes safety regulations and policies.
  • Clean jobsite before leaving.
  • Responsible for supervising/mentoring internal staff and supervising outside HVAC contractors.
  • Report lost card access and keys immediately.
  • Must reflect a respectful, helpful and cooperative attitude to the Frontage team and to other staff members.
  1. Non-Essential Duties
  • Performs housekeeping, hazardous waste removal, shipping, and receiving tasks when time permits or as needed
  1. Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Work hand in hand with third party vendor personnel brought on site to maintain/repair the facility according to the established Policies, SOPs.
  • Mentor junior facilities staff

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school, G.E.D or trade school diploma.
  • Seven (7) years field experience in repairs and maintenance of HVAC and steam
    distribution systems in commercial, pharmaceutical and/or medical environments.
  • Certified and licensed for CFC refrigerant recovery.
  1. Experience
  • Previous experience with Hazardous Waste collection preferred
  • Prior experience in a pharmaceutical facility preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient with computers.
  • Able to ready complex blueprints and schematics diagrams.
  • Proficiency in field pump repairs, mechanical seals, packing and bearing
    replacement.
  • Proficiency in servicing both natural and propane gas appliances/fittings/piping.
  • Ability to operate, repair and maintain high- and low-pressure steam systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of local and national sanitation/building codes.
  • Able to work with others as part of a team.
  • Understand verbal and written instructions.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license
