Essential Duties:

  • In coordination with department managers, establish standards and procedures (especially for the Health Services departments: Alderwood, Waterford Place and Rowan House) to ensure safe operations and high-quality service, while complying with all federal, state, and local codes, laws, and regulations.
  • Responsible for selection, training, coaching, and evaluation of Health Care staff members; coordinate with managers and supervisors to ensure they are supervising staff appropriately, and that adequate staffing and performance levels are maintained. Directly supervise and evaluate assigned department managers. Advise and assist Department Heads as needed or requested. Ensure all licensed areas staff records are kept up-to-date.
  • Coordinate with Medical Directors and on site physician staff to meet quarterly; schedule quarterly physician discussions.
  • Support the Coordination of the move-in of Life Care residents to and from the Licensed Area’s; support the coordination of moves in and out of the Licensed Area’s.
  • Coordinate weekly health care team meetings.
  • Attend department head meetings; conduct the meetings in the absence of the ED.
  • Promote teamwork within departments and between departments, through open communications, welcoming new hires, properly training those in your department, special departmental programs to recognize employees, and assisting when and where needed to ensure smooth operations and high quality service to residents and co-workers.
  • Complete monthly Village financial analysis and get information and explanation needed from department heads.
  • Attend daily Licensed areas team meetings; lead census development and oversee the Health Center marketing plan.
  • Participate on Infection Control Committee.
  • Conduct analyses, cost proposals, research laws and regulations, etc., to determine feasibility of projects, to secure grants, and to implement projects and programs, as directed by the COO.
  • Conduct and monitor regular departmental meetings and training sessions to ensure all Health Care staff members know and follow facility, departmental, and safety related policies and procedures, are current on licensing requirements, and to ensure that staff members are customer service oriented at all times to all residents, co-workers, guests, and vendors.
  • May be required to report for duty for the duration of an emergency or natural disaster (tornados, fires, evacuations, power failures, etc.) to assist in emergency procedures.
  • May perform duties of any other position, as circumstances require, including Resident Aide, Receptionist, and Marketing Representative.
  • Ensure proper safety procedures are established and followed in the Licensed Areas at all times. Remain current on all issues related to employee safety and health, keeping abreast of changes on state and OSHA requirements and informing the staff there appropriate and ensure Health Care staff attends mandatory in-services and emergency drills.
  • Meet with residents, family members and power of attorneys to solve problems and concerns, and to assist in deciding when a higher level of care is needed.
  • Assist COO and Marketing department with occupancy development and in developing and implementing marketing programs for FVD programs.
  • Attend quarterly Quality Assurance/Resident Relations committee meetings; complete assigned projects for the committee, including cost analyses, market research, QA reports etc.
  • Participate in community programs and activities to promote the Village and the services offered.
  • Annually prepare Licensed Area’s budgets and assist with other department budgets under the direction of COO; maintain all appropriate records and ensure operations are within the established budget. Inform COO of any discrepancies.
  • Monitor purchases of all supplies and equipment for all operations; ensure adequate inventories of supplies are maintained for the Licensed Areas.
  • Monitor HIPPA activities.
  • Ensure employee incident reports are reviewed and investigated. Report all recordable employee injuries (when must be seen by a doctor) to FVD’s Managed Care Organization (MCO) for workers compensation and to Human Resources with 24 hours.
  • Serve as resource for departments regarding operations, health care laws and regulations, financial analyses, etc.
  • Attend and/or participate in meetings, seminars, and committees as needed and/or directed by the COO. Attend mandatory in-service training and education programs.
  • Conduct Quality Assurance measures, including inspections of the licensed areas and satisfaction surveys.
  • Conduct research for facility projects and grants.
  • Coordinate the preparation for state surveys of the licensed areas and for the CCAC survey.
  • Remain current and follow safety and health standards, including but not limited to Universal Precautions, Infection Control, and Hazard Communication Standards, including SDS and proper protective equipment, and emergency procedures, including those in the Disaster Plan Manual.
  • Know, uphold and promote Resident Rights and Code of Conduct policies. As the Compliance Officer, investigate any situation where the rights of a resident or coworker may have the probability of being violated. Only provide confidential information to the Director, Supervisor on duty, Compliance Officer, or persons as directed by your supervisor, according to an emergency situation.
  • Understand the special needs of 65 and over age groups (e.g., possible loss of vision, hearing, memory, etc.); ability to effectively communicate and provide services for these age groups.
  • Maintain the appropriate licensure/credentials. Complete CEU as required.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to become a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator for the state of Ohio or receive reciprocity for Ohio within 12 months.
  • Two (2) or more years’ experience in a health care or hospitality setting, including increasing supervisory responsibilities.
  • Prefer Bachelor or Master’s degree in business management, health care management or related field, or an equivalent combination or experience and education.
  • Broad knowledge of health care regulations and needs of the aging, as well as of state and federal laws and regulations is required.
  • Knowledge of resident rights and Ohio Regulations in long-term care settings
  • Strong financial acumen, experience with budgeting in a healthcare setting and reimbursement management
