Friends Of Youth is Hiring a Coordinator, Medical - RFS Renton Near Renton, WA

The Medical Coordinator approves, schedules and coordinates youth physical examinations at intake and any follow-up medical care, referrals for specialized medical care or urgent medical appointments. They compile, process, and maintain the medical records of all youth served, in a manner consistent with administrative, ethical, legal, medical, and regulatory state licensing requirements. The Medical Coordinator reports client information for health requirements and standards and is the key monitor of youth health through observation, assessment of their records, symptoms, and reactions to care and treatment. They maintain positive working relationships with community medical providers, provide training to employees on proper medication administration and documentation and communicate the medical needs of the youth to the program team.

Essential Duties

  • Ensure all Treatment Authorization Requests (TARs) and other authorized documentation are available for youth, prior to them receiving dental, medical or mental health treatment.
  • Schedule and arrange a physical examination on intake for each youth and any follow-up appointments, including dental and vision appointments.
  • Collaborate with the Psychiatrist to ensure an adequate supply of medication is available for each youth on prescribed psychotropic and non-psychotropic medications.
  • Upload youth’s medical records to the Unaccompanied Child (UC) Portal within 24 hours of appointment.
  • Review over-the-counter medications, first aid supplies and other medical supplies to ensure they have not expired and request replacements when needed from the Supervisor.
  • Communicate any medical needs to the Clinical Manager and Supervisor.
  • Transport the youth to medical appointments when needed.

a. Education and Experience

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish required.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience working with youth in a social service setting.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of MS365 Power Platform.

b. Additional Requirements

  • Must satisfactorily pass criminal history check.
  • Must satisfactorily pass tuberculosis (TB) test.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid Washington State driver's license (or be able to obtain one by date of employment).
  • Employees and volunteers who operate their own or Friends of Youth vehicles on Friends of Youth business, must have a safe driving record as defined by Friends of Youth.
  • Employees and volunteers who operate their own vehicle(s) on Friends of Youth business must carry auto liability insurance that complies with the requirements of Friends of Youth.
  • Must successfully complete the following health certification requirements within 30 days of employment: CPR, First Aid and Bloodborne Pathogens.
  • Proof of the following vaccinations are required: First two doses of COVID-1i, Influenza (during flu season), Varicella (two doses or titers indicating immunity), MMR (two doses or titers indicating immunity), Tdap (one dose).

  • Working knowledge of the principles of trauma informed care, positive youth development, and harm reduction within culturally appropriate frameworks.
  • Able to learn and implement relevant Council on Accreditation (COA) standards and participate in Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) processes
  • Able to adapt and respond to change effectively; proactively seek opportunities supportive of change.
  • Able to identify challenges and formulate and implement solutions, utilizing the expertise and input of others.
  • Able to be flexible and responsive to the needs of employees and youth in care.
  • Able to handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Able to accurately maintain and produce files, records, logs, and reports.
  • Able to maintain professional boundaries with clients while building trust and respect. 15. Proficient skill set with Microsoft Office programs.`

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time. In this position, you must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and be able to access program locations, including the need to use stairs.
