Executive Director, Facilities Operations - 502135

SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Senior AVP of Campus Operations, the Executive Director of Facilities Operations provides oversight of the Facilities department at the University of Richmond in all aspects of University maintenance, including but not limited to custodial services, deferred maintenance, facilities financial planning, energy management and oversight of sub-contracted services. This role ensures that facilities are maintained to align with the needs of the University in a fiscally responsible manner. The Executive Director of Facilities Operations must have a strong customer service focus, fostering a commitment to the expectations and requirements of internal and external stakeholders. This important leadership role effectively builds cohesive teams, and successfully communicates goals and objectives to all facilities units.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership 

  • Provides overall leadership of the six sub departments within Facilities.
  • Budget development and management.
  • Performs tactical and logistical decision-making.
  • Staff meetings.

Day to Day Operations 

  • Touring and inspections.
  • Quality control.
  • Vendor engagement.
  • Emergency response.

Strategic Planning 

  • Implement and maintain a deferred maintenance program.
  • Monitor and track building conditions.
  • Develop a capital needs and deferred maintenance plan.

Support Campus Operations initiatives

  • Report generation.
  • Tracking and analysis of current conditions.
  • Other projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative environment and lead teams.
  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Ability to manage competing complex priorities.
  • Requires comprehensive knowledge of financial budgets and prioritization of both current and future planning.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of technical matters and serves as a resource on building maintenance issues for others in the organization.
  • Requires a sufficient knowledge of workplace safety and other OSHA workplace regulations as well as application of appropriate building codes.
  • Requires general knowledge in computer use; including the ability to participate in electronic communication (email), create documents as necessary, use University systems and research work-related issues on the Internet.
  • Required: Must have a valid Driver's License and be able to produce a driving record with a minimum of 3 years of driving history in good standing

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree required with a degree in engineering or related field preferred.
  • Ten or more years of demonstrated effectiveness in managing highly complex facilities operations.

WORK HOURS:

  • Full-time, exempt position
  • Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week
  • All Facilities employees are designated as essential personnel and are subject to work outside the normal work schedule on an emergency basis and are also subject to planned overtime work as required by the immediate supervisor.

SALARY STRUCTURE:
Pay Grade 11 (Hiring Range $101,670.00 to $139,797.00 annually)
