Overview:

**MUST HAVE VALID RN LICENSE!!

This position will manage our Physiocare site in West Lafayette, IN and also provide oversite to our Select Hospice office in Indianapolis, IN.

The Director of Operations organizes and directs the day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance with State and Federal regulations. Employs qualified staff and ensures adequate staff education and evaluations. Responsible for an effective budgeting and accounting system. Develops policies and procedures. Develops a system of staff communication that ensures coordinated implementation of plans of treatment and the utilization of necessary services for comprehensive care of patients. Ensures accuracy of public information materials and activities.

Responsibilities:
  • Meets regularly with the Fortis Staff. Interprets and implements company policies for guidance of staff, patients and public.
  • Maintains ongoing liaison among the Fortis members, the group of professionals and staff.
  • Plans, coordinates, directs and controls the operations of the Hospice Agency.
  • Maintains effective communication between the Fortis staff, professional staff and Hospice staff.
  • Ensures that qualified staff are hired and that such staff receive adequate inservices and evaluations as well as onboarding and training.
  • Exercises objective and mature judgment in properly controlling all aspects of financial operation by receiving ongoing reports from bookkeeping/accounting staff.
  • Maintains a system of staff communication that ensures coordinated implementation of plan of care, and the utilization of necessary services for comprehensive patient care.
  • Participates in the agencies information management and performance improvement programs.
  • Develops the capital and operating budgets.
  • Develops policies and procedures.
  • Keeps up-to-date on new developments as related to the hospice agency in regard to state and federal regulatory agencies.
  • Provides oversight relative to Homecare Homebase data collection and transmission.
  • Represents and interprets the Hospice agencies functions to other institutions, the public, government agencies and other organizations.
  • Ensures compliance with policies and procedures regarding Hospice agency operations, fire safety, emergency management and infection prevention and control.
  • Supports and maintains a culture of safety and quality.
  • Supervises Hospice staff leaders.
  • Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments and staff.
  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, orienting and ongoing education of staff.
  • Conducts staff meetings and continuing education/inservices on a regular basis
  • Completes assigned training on time.
  • Completes annual education requirements.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the duties and functions of the hospice agency and its relationship to the healthcare community.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Excellent oral and written skills.
  • Demonstrate organizational and leadership skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal guidelines and regulations.
Qualifications:
  • A Rgistered Nurse (RN)
  • Licensed in the state of Indiana.
  • Training and experience in health service administration and at least one (1) year of supervisory or administrative experience in hospice.
