Livingston HealthCare is Hiring an Emergency Services Director Near Livingston, MT

JOB SUMMARY:

The Emergency Services Director is responsible for providing professional business management and oversight of daily operations of Livingston Health Care’s Emergency Department, Urgent Care, Emergency Preparedness, and Trauma Program.

The Emergency Services Director aids in the development and implementation strategic business plans and partners with the VP of Patient Care Services, the Emergency Department and Urgent Care Medical Directors, and department providers and staff to maintain the highest standards of patient care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for 24/7 operations and management of Livingston Health Care’s Emergency Department (ED) and Urgent Care (UC) including providing professional business management, financial administration, development, and implementation of strategic business plans.
  • Ultimate oversight of ED and UC personnel, which includes oversight of department supervisors and coordinators.
  • Establishes and maintains policies, protocols, and guidelines to ensure adherence to professional standards as well as evidence-based practice.
  • Purposefully conducts all aspects of the job in an ethical manner in support of LHC’s commitment to the Standards of Excellence in all areas of personal and professional activities.
  • Lead and support quality and operational performance utilizing data driven measurement tools to ensure quality delivery of services and documentation of quality plan and quality actions taken.
  • Support the process to measure and report on quality assurance activities and results.
  • Advise and collaborate on issues related to clinical operations, quality improvement initiatives, survey, and regulatory compliance.
  • Regularly round, identify, understand, and mobilize resources to address staff and individual concerns.
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring, orientation, on-boarding, and retention of staff. Demonstrates leadership through coaching, performance evaluations, corrective actions, and development opportunities. Motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
  • Directly manage supervisors and staff. Work collaboratively to ensure best clinical practice and efficient patient flow, optimizing patient access and satisfaction.
  • Ensure effective initial and ongoing training and education for ED and UC staff.
  • Facilitates regularly scheduled staff meetings, seeking input for operational decisions.
  • Ensure staff comply with all medical licensure and professional credentialing in any relevant state of operation.
  • Responsible for the budget process, including capital equipment proposals, staffing requirements/compliance, and overall budget achievement.
  • Utilizes patient satisfaction scores to identify successes and opportunities for performance improvement while consistently providing feedback and education to staff.
  • Proactively responds to change and promotes enthusiasm for change. Demonstrates initiative and responsibility to develop professional/service line goals.
  • Provides service recovery as needed, promptly responding to patient concerns with compassion, kindness, empathy, and patience.
  • Administers ED and UC Service Line Committee structures.
  • Oversight of Emergency Preparedness Coordinator. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Performs other duties as deemed necessary

  • Attends all mandatory in-service classes.

  • Able to work collaboratively with other leaders and staff to ensure the best outcomes for patients.
  • Completes all annual related educational competencies.
  • Current knowledge of healthcare environmental trends.

QUALIFICATIONS (Required):

  • Current Montana RN license.
  • Five years of clinical experience in Emergency Department.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities; able to remain calm and work collaboratively in stressful situations.
  • Possesses good oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal relationships in a manner which enhances communication, promotes conflict resolution, and facilitates staff development.
  • Skills and knowledge to sustain and evaluate clinical competence in caring for the specific age and type of patient populations served.
  • BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, and ENPC certifications.

ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BSN or MSN
  • Effective working knowledge and experience in healthcare leadership.
  • Working knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with Microsoft office
  • Experience with scheduling software
