SUMMARY
Support internal and external communications focusing on materials development, campaign implementation and digital outreach strategies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following:
- Assists with developing, integrating, and implementing comprehensive marketing, external and internal communications, and public relations.
- Drafts content for social media, websites and other digital channels.
- Writes news articles, press releases, emails, and media materials.
- Advises on website content organization; leads website content updates and changes.
- Develops graphic style sheets for program materials.
- Provides messages, brand discipline, and guidance to ensure clients and/or projects are portrayed consistently and compellingly in media outlets, and in all materials.
- Participates in, and facilitates client meetings and workgroups, as appropriate.
- Assists with outreach planning and implementation.
- Assists with uploading data, research, manuscripts, and materials.
- Assists with collecting meeting topics and/or materials for client events.
- Supports regular project meetings through agenda development and meeting minutes.
- Assists in the development of plain language communication materials.
- Updates internal tracking spreadsheets.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
No supervisory or management authority.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in communications, advertising, journalism, graphic design, public relations, or other related field, and 2 to 5 years of media relations and/or mass communications experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Knowledge of public relations concepts and emerging trends.
- Working knowledge of Associated Press "AP" style.
- Knowledge of content management systems, graphic design, and photography.
- Excellent written, communication, presentation, and computer skills.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to exercise patience and flexibility when working with clients and outside partners.
- Ability to be personally engaging and creative in all aspects, particularly when pitching ideas to media.
- Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor when representing the program.
- Ability to navigate client protocols and processes when working on joint projects.
Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled office setting.
