Responsibilities

• Conducting research in the area of real-time surgical simulation technology
• Developing novel simulation algorithms and techniques for surgical training and planning
• Collaborating with the faculty members and researchers from the FAMU-FSU COE and other institutions to advance the field of surgical simulation
• Writing grant proposals and securing external funding
• Publishing research findings in high-quality journals and presenting research results at conferences and seminars
• Mentoring graduate students and postdoctoral researchers

Qualifications

• Doctoral degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
• Experience in C/C programming, computer graphics, haptics, and physics-based real-time computing
• Proficiency in finite element modeling and simulation.
• Substantial experience with computational fracture mechanics.
• Knowledge of machine learning, deep learning and libraries including but not limited to TensorFlow and/or PyTorch, Scikit-Learn, Pandas, etc.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other faculty members and researchers from diverse backgrounds.
• Strong publication record in relevant areas of research.
• Demonstrated ability to secure external funding.
• Experience in mentoring graduate students and postdoctoral researchers is preferred.
