Job Description
The starting pay range for this position begins at $16.75/hour and is based on the level of qualifications and relevant experience above the minimum requirements. Reserve: a position working about 20 hours per week (between 40-999 hours per year).
The Floral Display Staff I will work with the Lodging and Events floral teams; responsibilities will include: preparation, installation, maintenance and clean-up. Candidate will be assisting the floral designers with both routine and event decorating duties including prepping and placing floral and decor, grooming and watering plants, moving supplies and equipment, cleaning, and other duties as assigned. Exceptional guest service skills expected with interactions with guests and other staff.
In addition, staff will provide general departmental support and will help with assignments and projects as required.
Shifts are generally 9:00AM - 5:00PM. Weekend availability is a requirement of this job.
Essential Job Duties:
1. Assist in planning, creating, installing, and maintaining routine and special event decoration. Work will include the use of fresh flowers, dried and silk materials, and
tropical and potted plants.
2. Assist with cleaning, maintenance, and organization of floral shop and storage spaces
3. Interact professionally with both guests and coworkers, acting as a resource for the
hotel and estate teams and providing floral-related knowledge as needed.
5. Work closely with Rooms teams, security, events, banquets, and other departmental areas.
6. Will work closely with the Lodging & Events teams to help with special events and displays as needed.
Requirements:
1. High school diploma. Additional training and/or certifications preferred.
2. At least one (1) year of related floral and/or craft or design experience required.Preferred candidate with experience in designing/executing floral displays
3. Knowledge of indoor, tropical, and blooming plant care/maintenance; ability to diagnose, and troubleshoot issues; familiar with historic and interpretative design styles.
4. Demonstrated commitment to delivering world class internal and external guest service, products and services.
5. Creative thinking and design abilities. Must be able to authentically interpret gilded age themes and produce displays that are representative of the Biltmore aesthetic.
6. Outstanding attention to details with a focus on quality.
7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; conveys information clearly/concisely; strong public speaking/presentation skills.
8. Strong planning, organizational, and project and time management skills; should be able to multi-task, prioritize and work effectively under deadlines.
9. Ability to exercise good judgment, be proactive, take initiative, and creatively problem solve as appropriate is essential.
10. Applicants must have a valid driver's license, and be at least 18 years of age.
Physical Requirements:
1. Stamina for standing or walking on hard surfaces 95% of the day.
2. Ability to work indoors and outside with fluctuations in weather conditions and temperature.
3. Ability and strength for repetitive work such as cutting wires, pruning and cutting with shears, bow tying, squeezing glue gun trigger, pressing picking machine, trimming candles, watering plants.
4. Pushing and maneuvering watering tanks several times a week.
5. Pushing or pulling tray carts, lowboys or hand trucks weighing 50-75 lbs., regularly.
6. Lifting and carrying boxes, plants, ladders, garbage cans, or buckets filled with water
