SUMMARY: Works collaboratively and proactively with other members of the healthcare team to coordinate and facilitate patient care. The job incumbent is a multi-skilled Staff member who is able to perform clerical and clinical duties as directed by the provider and/or RN. The job profile encompasses a multitude of tasks that contribute to the efficient operations of the healthcare practice. Key public relations position which may involved dealing with patient's compliments and concerns. Certified Medical Assistants may be asked to perform in a dual role to include clinical responsibilities and documentation support for physicians. Responsibilities include the preparation and assembly of medical record documentation/charts, transcribing medical record documentation, updating patient records utilizing electronic medical record applications, organizing healthcare data to provide enhanced patient services, promoting preventative care, and the efficiency of clinical care.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Associate Degree from accredited program for Medical Assisting. Licensure/Certification/Registration: FHN requires individuals performing the CMA role to possess certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants for Certified Medical Assistant. If the individual is not certified, they must pass the certification exam and receive their certification. The individual will have two (2) opportunities to successfully complete the national examination. If the medical assistant fails to pass the national examination and is unable to secure certification, they will be removed from the Medical Assistant role. Must be BLS/AED certified.
