Job Description:

• The LPN- Inpatient provides nursing care to patients at the direction of a registered nurse.
• Observation, patient teaching, and care.
• Documentation in Electronic Medical Record.
• Contribution to planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing.
• Administration of medications under the direction of a registered nurse and according to Ohio Revised Code section 4723.17.
• Performs treatments under the direction of a registered nurse and according to Ohio Revised Code section 4723.17.
• Assists and participates in the implementation and evaluation of the plan of care/pathway and discharge plan.
• Communicates with patient/family in an effort to gather necessary medical and social information.
• Administration of adult intravenous therapy* under the direction of a registered nurse and according to the Ohio Revised Code Section 4723.18 or 4723.181.
• Practices and promotes positive interpersonal and intradepartmental relations.
• Provides psychological and emotional support to patients and families.
• Keeps RN and providers informed of patient and unit activities and response to care provided.
• Teaching or training of nursing tasks to other LPNs and individuals to whom the LPN is authorized to delegate nursing tasks as directed by a registered nurse.

*Restrictions to Adult IV therapy LPN cannot initiate or maintain blood or blood components, total parental nutrition, cancer therapeutic medication, solutions via central venous line or arterial line or any investigational or experimental medication.
Qualifications
Job Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• LPN-Licensed Practical Nurse- National Council State Boards of Nursing-Must hold current license from the state of Ohio.
• Maintain licensure and educational requirements to administer medications and intravenous therapy.
• Successful completion of basic pharmacology course that meets Ohio Revised Code requirements.
• Successful completion of a course of study in the safe performance of intravenous therapy that meets the Ohio.
• Revised Code requirements.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (may be completed following hire).
• Recognition of Lethal Rhythms (may be done following hire).
• One year of work experience preferred.

Exerting up to 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10-25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible up to 10 pounds amount of force often.
