ETTA is seeking a DSP (Direct Support Personnel) to provide support, physical assistance, and motivation for a young man attending ETTA's Community Day Program.

5 days weekly, Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Job Description

As a DSP, your support of this individual will include, but not be limited to: Pick up and drop off from home, communication via gestures/sign & body language, encouragement to participate in group activities/tasks, narration and physical assistance as needed throughout the activity/task, creativity, proactive planning and implementation of strategies, transitioning between activities/tasks, assistance with socialization with peers, adapting to many environments/situations, transfer from wheelchair in and out of a van/bathroom, assistance with toileting, In addition to direct support, the candidate will be required to complete daily documentation of the day's activities and tasks performed.

The person-supported values personal connection and the opportunities to shine. He enjoys shopping, music, comics, and low impact exercise. He enjoys helping others and volunteers in his community.

The ideal candidate will have a positive outlook, plenty of energy, and be preceptive in reading body language. They will be dependable, consistent, and detail oriented.

Education / Experience

• High School diploma or GED
• At least one year experience supporting persons with Special Needs preferred

Qualifications

• 21 years of age
• Ability to pass a background and drug test (DOJ / FBI / DMV)
• A valid driver's license, and proof of vehicle insurance coverage
• Willingness to transport using personal vehicle (with mileage reimbursement)
• Proficient in basic safety and emergency techniques (CPR / First Aid Certified)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to use a computer and online platforms for program operation
• Ability to lift/transfer up to 180lbs
• Knowledge of Jewish traditions and culture helpful but not required
