Daily Table is Hiring a Store Manager Near Boston, MA

Salary $70,000-$75,000
Daily Table is a nonprofit grocery store chain dedicated to providing access to healthy, affordable food to communities that need it most. Since 2015, Daily Table has offered customers a wide selection of fresh produce, grocery staples and made-from-scratch meals priced to be truly affordable for all budgets in an upbeat, welcoming shopping environment. The organization currently operates five stores in the Greater Boston area with plans to expand.
Daily Table is looking for an exceptional leader who will bring strong retail experience, foster a collaborative workplace and promote teamwork to lead the day-to-day operations of one of Daily Table's stores within the Boston market. Daily Table values diversity and is actively looking for candidates for Store Manager who will both represent the communities we operate in and bring a fresh perspective to our stores.
Roles & Responsibilities General Management
  • Take ownership of all aspects of the operation and performance of a store, including its financial results, merchandising, employee satisfaction and excellence, cleaning and sanitation, safety, and hospitality
  • Supervise the overall operation of the store and strive to create an outstanding customer experience for everyone that walks through the door
  • Oversee major duties in store; front end, receiving, perishables area, dry goods floor, equipment and small-wares, reception, inventory control & cash
  • Oversee administrative functions, merchandising, safety issues, HACCP, in-store audits, physical inventory preparation
  • Achieve cost control and budget objectives for food, labor, and spending
  • Achieve store payroll and total loss budgets
  • Manage cash audits in conjunction with store leadership according to company guidelines
  • Monitor the competitive environment within the community and makes recommendations to the direct leader regarding adjustments necessary to maintain a competitive position
  • Conduct store inventory counts and reconciliations according to company guidelines
  • Comply with all established company policies and procedures while upholding the security and confidentiality of documents and data
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Merchandising and Logistics
  • Create engaging and aesthetically pleasing product displays and in-store merchandising
  • Manage promotions to help grow store sales and customer base
  • Collaborate with the procurement/logistics team to oversee the supply chain of goods from supplier, transportation to the store, storage, stocking, and sale to the customer
  • Manage product inventory to forecast where shortages and overstock may be and adjust accordingly
  • Manage inventory levels, order products, and ensure stock availability for customers while minimizing waste
Personnel
  • Build a strong team culture focused on customer satisfaction and enjoyment, successful outcomes and continuous improvement
  • Ensure store staff performance results through coaching, counseling, and accountability; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results through regular feedback and performance evaluations
  • Understand the overarching company strategy, as well as communicates and models the core values of the organization, to create a sense of teamwork and membership among employees
  • Ensure an effective and efficient response to customer and employee questions, requests, and/or concerns
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise staff members to ensure excellent customer service and development opportunities that will assist direct reports in achieving enhanced performance
Maintenance
  • Ensure all equipment is operating properly, i.e. refrigerators, freezers, cash registers, lighting, etc
  • Address, communicate and follow-up on physical store issues with a sense of urgency to ensure smooth and consistent operation and customer experience in the store
  • Provide a safe environment for employees, customers, and vendors by identifying and rectifying hazards, ensuring proper ergonomics, and maintaining store equipment in proper working order
Requirements Desired Background & Experience
  • Passionate about Daily Table's mission and commitment to affordable nutrition for all
  • 2 years store management experience required; grocery experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, motivational, team building and customer relationship skills and comfort working with diverse backgrounds
  • Bilingual candidates strongly encouraged to apply; Spanish proficiency highly desired
  • Entrepreneurial mindset; comfortable with ambiguity, change and growth in a start-up environment
  • Computer literate; comfortable working with Office/Google Drive, POS software and reporting tools
  • Understands the need to use numbers and information to inform decision making
  • Flexibility in scheduling to meet operational needs including early mornings, evenings and weekends
  • Must be able to perform physical demands, such as; standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50lbs
