SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:

Faculty members, both full-time and adjunct, are involved in continuous assessment and engaged in expanding teaching methodologies and delivery systems to improve student academic success and retention. Full-time faculty will actively participate in departmental/divisional meetings and activities, in student recruitment/retention/advisement activities, in community/partner relationships, and in activities that promote and support the district-wide academic goals of the local populations and the College. Faculty may be asked to teach on various campuses, via in-person, online, hybrid, and virtual learning environments, as directed by the needs of the community for a given semester; course scheduling may include daytime, evenings, and/or weekends.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

Teaching Responsibility:

Serves students. Teach 15 equated load hours/semester (to include material and preparation time; equates typically to 4 courses/semester); develop and grade exams and instruments to evaluate student learning and progress; submission of student grades/progress as required by the programs/policies of the Instruction area.

Maintain a min of 5 office hours/week/semester load and direct interaction with students in a formal learning environment for a 15-equated load hour schedule.

Remain current in his/her discipline, updating course content when appropriate. Maintain standard syllabus/outline for each course, in accordance with program/procedures. Update course syllabus/outline annually.

Working with Departmental Coordinator and Departmental faculty, develop and implement processes and tools for assessment of teaching and student learning outcomes incorporating appropriate methodologies and technology.

In collaboration with colleagues and the Director of Curriculum, Assessment, and Scheduling and under the guidance of the Director/Coordinator, develop a system for evaluation of teaching and learning including course competency expectations and student outcome measures.

Working with the Departmental Coordinator, incorporate results of assessments to modify instruction and materials in general education.

College Responsibility:

Set up and breakdown of equipment for use during practical skills training.

Instructors are required to teach skills in accordance with the Educational Standards and the course syllabi. Visits clinical sites to ensure students achieve course objectives for clinical practicum.

Prevents a student from performing an activity unless the student has received instruction and been found to competently perform the activity; supervises any student who provides care to clients in clinical areas.

Maintains collegial rapport with clinical affiliates, and fosters program growth through partnerships.

Remain current with applicable local, state, and national standards/licensures/regulatory requirements that directly impact and influence programmatic offerings and instructional methodologies.

Attend graduation or completion ceremonies.

Community Responsibility:

Working with the Director of Allied Health, coordinate regular review of programs to ensure effectiveness and alignment with the college mission and values and in meeting community/workforce needs.

Participate in professional developmental activities outside the College, such as but not limited to, community events, boards, clubs, and conferences.

Identifies student learning outcomes; develops processes and tools for assessment; incorporates results in order to modify instruction and materials in general education, degree programs, course clusters, and/or certificate programs in coordination with colleagues.

Additional Responsibilities:

Attends and participates in staff meetings, committees, and division planning.

Participates in continuing education to improve evaluation skills and maintain competence.

Support and participate in strategic planning initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.
