Description:

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Center for Data Science in the Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing at Emory University seeks a post-doctoral scholar to work with faculty associated with the Center, directed by Dr. Vicki Hertzberg and Dr. Xiao Hu. The post-doctoral scholar will participate in the development and application of novel machine learning methods and tools to characterize and predict nursing and patient outcomes. The selected candidate will be expected to participate in the development of publications for peer-reviewed journals, development of abstracts for conferences, and submit grant proposals to funding agencies.

Initial appointment will be for one year, beginning September 1, 2024. Re-appointment for a second year is dependent on satisfactory performance and availability of funding.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in nursing, computer science, biostatistics, statistics, or related quantitative field, required in hand by appointment start date. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues. Experience in modeling and predictive analytics is preferred, including proficiency in R and Python. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, as is the ability to work in a cross-functional team. Additional qualifications as specified by the Principal Investigator.
