Description:Primarily night shift / PRN
The primary responsibilities of the Specimen Processing Technician is to receive specimens and perform proper specimen registration and accessing in the computer; accurately label and process specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring preservation of the integrity of each sample prior to distributing; initiation of pathology resident intervention on unacceptable specimens, as needed; review test requisitions and specimen labels for accurate information and orders tests appropriately; follows up on all specimens with incomplete information or questionable test orders. Additionally, processes all emergency orders (STATS) within the required time frame; processes and prepares referral specimens for shipping to reference laboratories and verifies complete courier delivery. All while upholding the values of the organization, including providing and demonstrating exemplary customer service skills throughout the pre-analytical, analytical and post analytical processes.
