Job Description
We are seeking a Community Outreach Specialist to join our team in the Miami, FL area. The ideal candidate is local to the South Florida area, an outgoing person experienced in communications and/or marketing. Customer-service focus required. Someone who will thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic organization.
DESCRIPTION: The Community Outreach Specialist is responsible for assisting in developing and executing community awareness plans including communicating with internal customers, community members, media, and elected officials. Assists in addressing and resolving public concerns related to projects.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Write content to inform the public about project benefits, activities, and impacts.
  • Plane and implement public meetings and special events.
  • Providing content for the project's Social Media accounts.
  • Developing strategic alliances and partnerships.
  • Ability to work in a constantly evolving, confidential environment.
  • Perform extensive outreach for public meetings and events using various communication methods to reach a diverse audience.
  • Work with the Creative Team to help produce collateral materials including PowerPoint presentations, project flyers, video clippings, and press releases.
  • Coordinate and distribute community awareness materials using a variety of outreach methods, including brochures, articles, social media and video demonstrations.
  • Communicate, coordinate, and collaborate with key partners and stakeholders, including staff, management, advocacy groups, community groups, consumer groups, businesses, and the public.
  • Responsive to community questions and concerns.
  • Responsible for collaborating closely with teams and on individual projects, often multiple projects at one time while adhering to government communications protocols and other requirements.
The candidate must have an associate or bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, preferably in public relations, communications, or marketing.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Talent for understanding, simplifying and effectively communicating complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to perform responsibilities with a significant degree of independence, initiative, creativity, and expert judgement.
  • Strong problem solving, critical thinking and organizational skills.
  • Deadline and detail oriented.
  • Familiarity with digital communications, including websites, social media, signage, direct mail campaigns and graphic design.
  • Willingness to travel to project locations.
  • Bilingual (Eng/Spa)
