Electronic Systems Sioux Falls is Hiring a Manufacturing Engineer - Evening Shift - M-Th 3:00pm to 2:00am Near Sioux Falls, SD

SUMMARY: The Manufacturing Engineer position supports all facets of production floor related to the manufacturing of electronic assemblies and is responsible for defining and improving the processes, equipment, and tooling. Responsible for working toward continuous improvements and participating in cost reduction activities related to the assembly processes while working within the parameters of the customer expectations. 

Qualifications: 

  • Four-year degree in electrical, mechanical, industrial engineering, or related major. 
  • Experience in electronic manufacturing preferred but not required
  • Ability to interact with a variety of personnel in a positive and professional manner.
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Able to follow electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience with automated electronic manufacturing equipment preferred.
  • An understanding of Microsoft software required
  • Experience with CAD a plus but not required.
  • Good technical writing and verbal communication skills. Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision. 
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Lift and carry up to 45 pounds.
    • Distinguish and identify colors
    • Ability to work with odors
  • Wear all proper protective equipment as required in work area in accordance with Safety Policy and OSHA standards. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

(E) = Essential Duties

(E) Investigate and resolve process related problems in support of the daily manufacturing efforts.

(E) Provide technical assistance to production team, including but not limited to, interpreting assembly documentation and production standards

(E) Program, set-up, operate, and troubleshoot manufacturing equipment

(E) Participate in design for manufacturability review (DFM) of new and existing products in support of continuous process improvements and customer service.

(E) Investigate, justify, and implement equipment in support of process improvements and cost reductions.

(E) Continuously review processes/equipment to ensure safe plant operations and address safety and OHSA issues as required.

(E) Provide engineering representation to assigned customer team.

(E) Assist in training of processes, machine operation and proper use of tools and equipment to maintain proper process controls.

(E) Design, fabricate, and implement tooling and fixturing for use on the production floor.

(E) Analyze defect data to determine root cause and prevent problems from reoccurrence.

(E) Document experiments and equipment updates as defined by the standard process

Participate in 5S, Lean, Kaizen, safety, and health programs when required.

Perform other tasks or duties as assigned.

Hours may vary, based on employer needs, in order to ensure full operation of equipment for all shifts. 

CONTACTS: Frequent external and internal contacts with vendors, resource people, customers, and associates.

WORKING CONDITIONS: General office and production environment.

ACCOUNTABILITY: The Manufacturing Engineer is accountable for possessing and applying the necessary technical and system knowledge of good manufacturing practices to plant operations. The Manufacturing Engineer is also responsible for keeping informed and up to date on new developments in this area and implementing improvements as appropriate. Must demonstrate good project management and decision-making skills. Must manage time well to focus efforts. Is accountable for practicing and promoting safe working habits, compliance with Company policies/procedures, and contribution to the Electronic Systems, Inc. team.

SUPERVISION: No direct supervisory responsibilities. Support and provide high quality service to internal and external customers.
