Full Stack Software Engineer, City Storage Systems - US/CAN

What you'll do
We are looking for full stack Software Engineers to join the Growth team for an exciting new product. You will balance moving quickly with building sustainability for the future - contributing across web front-ends and existing (or new) backend systems. You will help build elegant products on world-class technologies that bring our experience to eaters, restaurants, and other customers. As a Software Engineer at CSS, you will develop innovative new features and experiences on a platform with a large and growing user base. You will also move quickly and meaningfully by building just the right amount to prove a concept, release it into production, get some feedback, and then iterate until we get it right. You will leverage open-source and proprietary technologies and use languages and tools including TypeScript, React, and GraphQL, as well as Java and Go, Kubernetes, and CockroachDB. Your role will encompass a diverse range of responsibilities, including:

• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and other engineers on the team to conceptualize and build new features for our growing customer base.
• Participate in and provide feedback during the UX and engineering design processes.
• Produce high-quality code by leading or contributing to large cross-functional projects that impact and drive business success.
• Actively own features and define their long-term health, keeping scalability at the forefront of technical designs.
• Assist our skilled operations and business teams in triaging and resolving production issues.
• Work with other engineers from various teams across verticals and review code.
• Build reusable components and libraries for integration across products and scale.
• Build in a dynamic environment leveraging Data-Driven Development, Agile Methodologies, and Continuous Improvement.
• Learn the product and bring forth ideas on how to make it better for our users and customers.

What we're looking for
This is a full-stack position since our Growth team requires some flexibility, but we realize that not every candidate has a balanced set of front-end and backend skills. We encourage you to apply even if you are notably stronger with one or the other.

• 5 years of industry software engineering experience across both backend and web front-end, developing and shipping applications using language(s) such as JavaScript or TypeScript on the frontend, and Java, Go, or other similar languages on the backend.
• Experience working with React or an equivalent modern UI framework.
• Familiarity with the full life cycle of shipping applications, from design and implementation to testing and deployment.
• Strong communicator who can explain complex topics to not only other engineers but also designers, product managers, and support.
• Strong frontend fundamentals: integration testing, design patterns, client-side storage, responsiveness, etc.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience.
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment and an appreciation for problems requiring breadth.
• A love for good food.
