Gridiron IT is seeking a Mid Systems Engineer to support a contract in Quantico, VA.
Essential Duties:
• IT systems engineering consists of tasks such as designing, building, and testing minor to significant IT solutions that meet customer requirements. These solutions may consist of software, hardware, and integration of software/hardware.
• When called upon, contractors performing systems engineering activities must be available to assist system administrators and other team members in troubleshooting IT system problems.
• IT Systems Engineering. The contractor shall design, build, test, and implement software, hardware, and integrated software/hardware solutions that meet customer requirements. Solutions shall incorporate state-of-the-art technologies, industry best practices, and design and operation when advantageous to the Government. (On the four AFOSI operational enclaves and the local test/integration systems).
• Troubleshooting/Problem Resolution Assistance. Contractors performing systems engineering roles shall provide assistance to other team members comprising of both contractor and government employees, when needed. (On the four AFOSI operational enclaves and the local test/integration systems).
• System Configuration. The contractor shall develop and maintain current documentation on the configuration and testing of AFOSI IT systems. (On the four AFOSI operational enclaves and the local test/integration systems).
• Systems Engineering including analyzing, designing, installing, maintaining, and repairing hardware, networks, peripherals, and software.
• Utilize Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions, such as ArcSight and Splunk, to support Insider Threat and monitor overall systems health and security.
• Provide technical support for over 3,000 user, 5,000 Windows client and server operating systems at over 220 locations worldwide on five networks of varying classifications.
• Troubleshooting and technical support abilities with applications, hardware, network connectivity, and security.
• Writing/maintaining scripts using PowerShell and other scripting languages to automate processes, install and configure programs, install updates, modify applications, and develop reports on users, computers, and servers.
• Function as a mid-technical expert for system engineering and administration, providing guidance to junior systems resources.
• Provide systems engineering and technical services on AFOSI operational enclaves, AFOSI to AFNET points of presence and local testing network.
• Will work with, report to, and complete tasking from ACT’s offsite project manager, in addition to the onsite project management resources.
• Must have experience with STIGs.
• Strong PowerShell experience is required.
• Is required to maintain current contractual training requirements, as well as ACT training requirements.
Minimum Experience, Education and Certification:
• Bachelor’s degree in related field.
• Must be certified at IAT Level II (e.g., CCNA Security, Security , or other certification satisfying DoD 8140 certification requirements)

• 5 years of experience in IT field, with at least 3 years of experience in systems engineering.
• Must have a TS/SCI clearance (CI Poly Eligible). (Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.)
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows technologies, including Active Directory, Exchange, Windows Administration, PowerShell, scripting, and Windows configuration techniques.
• Strong knowledge of VmWare to include ESXi, Virtual Center, and Horizon VDI.
• Able to assess infrastructure, identify areas for improvement, and recommend solutions.
• Able to provide technical guidance and direction to system administrators and help desk technicians.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, analytical skills to troubleshoot issues, and an ability to conceptualize server infrastructures and configurations.
• Must be a US citizen.
Desired additional qualifications:
• Microsoft certification.
• Experience with DOD IT (USAF preferred) environment and systems.
• Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS and Azure.
• Experience with GitHub.
• Extensive experience with security as it pertains to network architecture, routers, and intrusion detection systems (IDS).
