Minimum Education Requirement:

• Highschool/ GED or equivalent work experience

Required Experience (1 yr.)

• Following directions with emphasis on safety.
• Reading, analyzing, and interpreting SOP's, coverage, documents, and regulations.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Warehouse systems
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Experience:

• Unloading trucks, trailers, containers of freight
• Counting products to compare to manifest.
• Checking shipments for damage, infestation, or production code dates.
• Reporting shortages, damages, and mis-shipments on appropriate forms.
• Signing for inbound shipments
• Ensuring that inbound shipments are moved safely to storage locations.
• Ensuring that the correct product number, quantity and type (lot, batch, serial number) of product are picked.
• Transporting orders to shipping locations or delivery platforms with material handling equipment such as but not limited to fork trucks, cherry pickers, or pallet jacks.
• Labeling, stencil, tag, mark orders, band, bundle, wrap, over-pack, and palletize.
• Comparing quantity, labeling and address with order to ensure out-going shipments are complete and correct.
• Assigning signature for outbound shipments
• Moving product, cartons and or pallets into trailers, rail cars or containers.
• Maintaining equipment in a neat, clean and orderly fashion.
• Operating equipment safely and efficiently.
• Complying with company standards and OSHA requirements.
• Keeping accurate records and reports.
• Assisting in physical inventories and cycle counts.
• Ensuring proper stock rotation.
• Making key computer inventory adjustments.
• Problem solving
• Repacking / re-boxing cases per customer instructions.
• Repairing and consolidating damaged goods
• Operating shrink-wrap machine.
• Charging forklift batteries
• Stacking/ separating usable from non-usable pallets.
• Cleaning railcars, trailers, and truck docks, bays.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

How you will thrive and create an impact:

As an Avantor Material Handler, while working under deadlines you will be required to shift priorities easily. This role required that you write reports and business correspondence.

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions)

Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level. Although the associate primarily works in an office environment, while performing the duties of this job, the associate can be exposed to an industrial warehouse environment. The associate may work near moving mechanical machinery and/or vehicles and the noise level in the work environment can be loud. Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems. A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis. Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 50 lbs.
