Job Description
The Salvation Army Mission:

Job Objective:
The Business Clerk provides clerical support to the Business Department, ensuring that Salvation Army policy and applicable laws are adhered to.
Essential Functions:

1. Prepare weekly gratuities.
2. Process Receipting.
3. Perform weekly bank deposits and record in Shelby.
4. Respond to Credit Card merchants on chargebacks.
5. File loss of funds reports.
6. Communicate with Director of Business and warehouse personnel to schedule rag and surplus
pickups. Ensure payment is received prior to release of funds.
7. Update and maintain bale log.
8. Record wire pre-payment for rag and surplus sales.
9. Process invoices and apply payment after shipped rag and surplus.
10. Prepare Rags Sales Report for submission to ARCC
11. Reconcile medical and voluntary life insurance billing on a monthly basis.
12. Process background checks for new hires.
13. Schedule orientations for new employees.
14. File HR and Finance paperwork. (store batches, employee forms, invoices, etc.)
15. In absence of HR Specialist, process payroll.
Additional Information
Minimum Qualifications:
The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, certifications, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.
Education Experience:
High School Degree required. Prefer Accounting Certificate or 2-year associates in business, human resources or accounting and minimum two years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills/Abilities:
1. Strong attention to detail, well organized, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
2. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience with Office 365 a plus as well as the ability to learn
proprietary software used by The Salvation Army.
3. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret data, general business correspondence, technical
procedures, and regulations.
4. Superior written and oral communications skills in both English and Spanish
5. Excellent time management, decision making, and organizational skills
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to read, collect, analyze and interpret data. Ability to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Clerical/Mathematical Skills:
Ability to apply mathematical and accounting operations to daily tasks as required.
Language Skills:
Able to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, professional journals, government
regulations, legal documents, and accounting and business reports. Able to write reports and business correspondence. Able to effectively present information to individuals and groups and to respond to questions from constituents. Must be fluent in English and Spanish.
Supervisory Responsibility: The position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Physical requirements include:
1. Speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity to be able to perform on computers.
2. Lifting, pulling and pushing of materials up to 50 pounds to be able to move equipment.
Travel: Occasional travel to various Family Store and warehouse locations. Occasional other travel as assigned.
Working Conditions: Office setting with quiet to moderate noise levels.
