This position is responsible for handling a criminal trial caseload and expected to try a wide-range of case types predominately consisting of complex felonies.

• Represents the State of Wisconsin in criminal legal proceedings and at trial.
• Reviews and prepares case files for trial:
  • Identifies and alerts appropriate staff of witnesses that need to be subpoenaed to provide testimony.
  • Reviews, researches, and drafts pre-trial motions, notices, and other filings.
  • Reviews, researches, and drafts responses to defense filed pre-trial motions.
  • Ensures that cases are supported by adequate facts, relevant legal principles, and that documents are complete and prepared appropriately.
• Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

• Graduating from an accredited law school.
• Three or more years of criminal litigation experience.

• Must possess and maintain licensure to practice law in the State of Wisconsin.
• Appointment will be conditional upon successful completion of:
  • Fingerprint based criminal background check
  • Employment history verification
  • Verification of license to practice law in the State of Wisconsin
