JOB SUMMARY:The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Preparing and Organizing Financial Transactions:
  • Meet reporting deadlines.
  • Support month- and year-end close processes.
  • Help maintain accounting ledgers.
  • Assist with reconciliation of various trial balance accounts.
  • Prepare, verify, allocate, and post journal entries in accordance with US GAAP standards.
  • Perform ad-hoc requests and financial analysis, as required.
• Compiling and Reviewing Financial Statements:
  • Record transactions
  • Review and approve journal entries before generating financial statements.
  • Assist with analyzing financial statements prior to submission to the corporate office.
• Evaluating Accounting Systems:
  • Inspect the design, documentation, and controls of the financial systems to assess their effectiveness when capturing and recording transactions.
• Confirming Tax Liability:
  • Calculate various tax liabilities (i.e. property tax, sales and use tax, income tax)
  • Preparing and filing tax returns, as required
  • Ensure tax advisors are provided with applicable information to book appropriate federal and state income tax assets and liabilities.
• Recommending Accounting Best Practices:
  • Equip decision-makers with the financial data needed to solve business problems.
  • Record, organize, and analyze financial transactions.
  • Identify and report accounting trends.
  • Recommendations on how to reduce expenses and increase revenue and encourage efficient use of resources.

Physical Requirements:Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field, required.
• At least three years of related experience required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
• Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
• Ability to correctly prepare tax reports.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.
