**Job Title: Distributed Learning Support Specialist**

**Occupational Summary:**

The Distributed Learning Support (DLS) Specialist is responsible for assessing needs, developing processes, and supporting advanced IT services for the faculty, students, staff, and guests of Fuquas Executive MBA (EMBA) and Master of Science in Quantitative Management (MSQM) Online programs. The landscape of services and support is constantly evolving. An important responsibility of the position is to stay abreast of ongoing changes in the educational technology landscape in order to help drive technological innovation within our programs.

Delivery of this service requires an understanding of the dynamics of the various programs and operations within the Fuqua School of Business and Duke University.

A strong foundation of good communication skills including the ability to assist users in a variety of circumstances is a must for success in this position.

**Work Performed:**

**Learning Platform** Support all users, faculty, students and staff in use and creation of the learning platform technology. Work with Fuqua developers towards continuous improvement of our learning environment.

**Computing Help** Support all users and their needs for computing. This includes various OS and devices as used by the community. Support the managed laptop pool of users who purchase laptops from us for program use. (Windows, Mac OS, Browsers, Excel Add-Ons, Security, Networking, PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone, Android.) Foster professional relationship with students in order to provide personalized support. Actively provide preventative technical support and provide knowledge to students to enhance their MBA experience and knowledge.

**Communication Technologies** Support users in use of communications technologies. (Email, phone, text, AV capture and distribution and various applications used in the EMBA and Online environments.)

**International Travel** Be capable of doing the international travel associated with our EMBA programs. Skills include travel document proficiency and ability to work with Duke/Fuqua travel policy and processes. Provide computing and AV support at residency locations. Work as part of the Fuqua team supporting these residencies.

**Coordination with other IT operations** Develop understanding of the various IT operations at Fuqua and Duke. Contribute and participate in the overall development and support of IT excellence at our school.

Perform the other related duties incidental to the work described herein. The above statements describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the individuals assigned to this classification.

**Weekend Support** Onsite support classes during the weekend. This includes supporting faculty and students during their classes. Responsible for updating the learning platform as a result of the class activities during the weekend.

**Online Programs Support** Support students all over the world in software installation and troubleshooting. Building relationships with students. Provide guidance to online sessions to both students and faculty. Maintaining program and academic resources. Quick response of any type of technical assistant request is required.

**Required Qualifications:**

**Education/Training: 4**-year college degree is preferred.

**Experience:** Generally, requires 2 years' experience, preferably within an academic environment, or organization working on information technologies in education. Exceptional interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required.
