JOB HOURS

The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a Medical Assistant, Certified in our Duke Neurology cliniclocated inRaleigh, NCto be an integral member of the healthcare team and provide direct and indirect care to patients.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist Medical and Nursing staff in a variety of tasks including: rooming patients, taking medical histories and recording vital signs.
• Prepare clinic and EMG rooms.
• Prepare biopsy tray as ordered by physician.
• Tee-up drug refills as directed.
• Assist with prior authorization needs for prescriptions.
• Perform other clinical functions as delegated and supervised by the physician.
• Assist with collection of laboratory specimens. Coordinate send-off to third party labs.
• Explain treatment procedures to patients.
• Obtain and scan medical records.
• Float in clinic to cover patient and provider needs as delegated by nurse manager, health center administrator, charge nurse, or nurse team lead.

JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

• Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant programaccredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred.
• High school or GED graduation required.
• Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA or ARMA required.
• BLS required
• No experience required beyond Education/Training requirement, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
