Dominion Builders is Hiring a Construction Project Manager Near Coral, FL

Dominion Builders and it’s subsidiary DAG is seeking an experienced Project Manager  to support its' Design/Build operations related to execution of commercial construction projects ranging from $5 million to $30 million in value. The Project Manager holds the key role and responsibility for planning, directing, and managing all aspects of projects assigned. This person is an aggressive, take-charge leader who has a strong customer focus, is highly organized, has a sense of urgency, skilled at building a cohesive construction team, and a concern and respect for safety and the desire to achieve quality in the final product.  

Job Summary

Plan, direct, coordinate, manage budget, and oversee all activities concerned with the construction and renovation of structures, facilities, and systems associated with specific projects. Participate in the conceptual development of specific projects and oversee its organization, scheduling, and implementation.

Essential Job Functions

The individual is the Dominion representative for projects assigned providing management and coordination of all construction activities, and achieving timely and economical results. 

Examples of Duties (Duties listed are not intended to be all inclusive nor to limit duties that might reasonably be assigned)

  • Manage construction contract terms internally and with suppliers and vendors
  • Ensure Contractor implementation of quality control programs 
  • Manage Change Order Process to ensure critical review at all steps of the process and effects on budget 
  • Create, monitor and manage the construction schedule in terms of time and budget impacts 
  • Tracking and control construction costs against the project budget to avoid cost overruns 
  • Monitor construction expenses and payment schedules against budget 
  • Acts as the liaison with Dominion Operations and other appropriate staff, during construction 
  • Coordinate with Federal, State, and local agencies during project implementation and ensures compliance with their administrative guidelines 
  • Manage contracts and contractual changes and coordinate preparation of proposals, plans, specifications, and financial conditions of subcontract agreements. 
  • Develop and deliver progress reports/presentations for upper management regarding status of project.
  • Oversee the preparation of project close-out documentation. 
  • Effectively communicate and manage project expectations to stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel. 
  • Conduct project postmortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements. 
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
  • Responsible for maintaining a general awareness of Dominion construction safety program 
  • Responsible for handling all related job responsibilities in accordance with Dominion Environmental Policy, relevant Operating Procedures, and Emergency Management Plan
  • Responsible for ensuring employees in their respective functional areas have adequate training and tools necessary to meet the requirements of the project 

Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills essential to Job Functions

Qualifications

Strong Project Management skills with minimum 5-10 years’ experience. Knowledge of engineering design and construction principles for civil infrastructure and integration of maintenance requirements. Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Reacts to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks. Strong interpersonal skills. Team player and proponent of collaborative management. Ability to plan, organize and direct the work of staff and contractor resources. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to train, supervise and evaluate the work of subordinates as needed. Ability to interact effectively with employees, managers, officials, and the public, and to resolve problems. 

Must demonstrate understanding of engineering, architectural, and other construction drawings. 

Work involves meeting multiple demands, in a fast-paced environment, on a timely basis. This is combined with special requirements to analyze and resolve specific problems while coordinating several major activities at once. Individual must be decisive and work well under pressure when faced with unexpected occurrences and delays. 

Ability to converse in Spanish is helpful, but not required.

Training and/or Education: Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in areas of construction science, construction management, project management, civil engineering, building science/construction, or related field is preferred, but not required.

Required Experience: Minimum 5-10 years’ of practical, hands-on, commercial construction experience is required. Progressively more responsible experience in field construction, construction engineering, or project management is expected.

Special Requirements: Essential software applications include Microsoft (Outlook, word, Excel); and must demonstrate ability to use computers and software programs for communication, online collaboration, and scheduling. Procore, Bluebeam and other construction-specific software a plus.
