Doane University is looking for an innovative visionary for the role of Assistant Professor of Agribusiness who will lead the Agribusiness Department. This nine-month position is housed in the College of Business and will begin in August of 2024.As chair of the Agribusiness Department, the candidate will work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure the curriculum is relevant and prepares students for careers in the industry. They will serve as the primary contact for the department and oversee the curriculum of all agribusiness programs. Additional responsibilities include:Creatively expand opportunities for the agribusiness educationPartner with the Doane departments to grow the programCollaborate with the agricultural advisory boardMentor adjunct faculty and encourage professional developmentCreate and review annual budgetCourses offered in the programs include the following areas of agricultural study: economics, management, sustainability, technology, and law. Courses will be based on the candidate’s intellectual curiosity, strengths, and program needs. The majority of courses will be online with some taught at the Crete campus. The successful candidate will value student success both in the classroom and beyond, and measure student success in a data-informed way.All full-time faculty engage in professional activities, such as being a member of professional organizations and serving on boards. Faculty with terminal degrees also engage in scholarship within their discipline (give presentations, publish papers, consult, etc.).The mission of the College of Business is: achieving excellence through knowledge, experience, and the liberal arts.
