We are a leader in delivering high-quality projects in the Construction industry. As we continue to grow and expand our operations, we are a $25M company looking for a hands CFO to lead our finance and accounting team and drive strategic initiatives.

Position Overview:

Reporting directly to Owners, the Operational CFO will play a pivotal role in shaping the financial direction of the company. This individual will oversee all aspects of accounting, finance, treasury, and business strategy, while spearheading cost-saving initiatives to optimize operational efficiency. Additionally, the CFO will be responsible for managing Human Resources, Insurance policies, Workmans Comp., as well as overseeing cash flow management and establishing a treasury policy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Leadership: Provide strategic guidance and leadership in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting processes to drive business growth and profitability in the Construction industry.
  • Team Management: Lead and mentor a small team of finance and accounting professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
  • Business Strategy: Partner with executive leadership to develop and implement strategic plans that align with the company's goals and objectives, driving sustainable growth and competitive advantage in the Construction sector.
  • Cost Saving Initiatives: Identify opportunities for cost optimization and operational efficiency improvements within Construction projects, implementing initiatives to maximize profitability while maintaining quality and service standards.
  • LOC Covenants Management: Oversee compliance with Line of Credit (LOC) covenants and other financial agreements, ensuring adherence to terms and conditions to maintain positive relationships with lenders.
  • CPA Firm Relationships: Manage relationships with external CPA firms, coordinating audits, tax planning, and consulting services to support financial reporting and compliance requirements.
  • Annual Financial Statement Review: Lead the annual financial statement review process, collaborating with external auditors and internal stakeholders to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Human Resources Management: Oversee Human Resources functions, including Payroll, Payroll Taxes, Comp. & Benefits.
  • Insurance Contracts: Manage insurance contracts and relationships with insurance providers to ensure adequate coverage and minimize risk exposure for the company.
  • Cash Flow Management & Treasury Policy: Oversee cash flow management, including monitoring liquidity, forecasting cash needs, and optimizing cash utilization to support business operations and strategic initiatives. Establish and implement a treasury policy to manage financial risk, leverage AP as appropriate, maximize returns on investments, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in Construction and working w/ Subcontractors: Previous experience working in the construction industry and with subcontractors will be considered a strong asset.
  • Negotiate Workers' Compensation: Negotiate workers' compensation contracts to ensure optimal coverage and cost-effectiveness for the company.
  • Facility Management: Run the facility and oversee day-to-day operations when owners are out of town, ensuring smooth operation and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Experience with WIP & Construction Billing: Experience with Work-in-Progress (WIP) accounting and Construction billing processes is highly beneficial.
  • Risk Management: Develop and implement robust risk management strategies to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements in the Construction industry.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including investors, lenders, and regulatory authorities, to foster trust and transparency.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct thorough financial analysis and performance evaluations within the Construction sector to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Change Management: Lead organizational change initiatives, driving process improvements and transformational projects to support the company's growth objectives in Construction projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Proven track record of success in a senior financial leadership role, preferably within the Construction industry or related sectors.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve common goals.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities, with a collaborative and approachable leadership style.
  • Strategic thinker with a focus on driving results and implementing innovative solutions to complex business challenges.
  • High level of integrity and ethics, with a commitment to upholding the company's values and principles.
