You must be a Texas resident to work for the Texas Workforce Commission or willing to relocate to Texas.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

The Workforce Development Specialist IV perform advanced (senior-level) customer intake, assessment, application and eligibility determination duties for Workforce Development programs. Disseminate information regarding Workforce Development programs; interviewing and assessing client needs and explaining requirements of available services; facilitating client access to all Workforce Development programs such as training and education services, employment services, labor market information as well as supportive services. May supervise the work of others or perform specialized and technical Workforce Development duties. May perform specialized, technical and consultative Workforce Development duties. Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Gives instruction in work methods and procedures. Assist management in planning for and meeting special workload problems. Interprets Workforce Development policies and procedures to staff.

YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO:

* Utilize labor market information to determine an applicant's transitional skills based on previous work experience, skills and knowledge.

* Contact employers to discuss ways to improve services and meet their labor market needs more effectively.

* Answer questions about Workforce Development programs, and other training and employment questions related to work and family issues, labor market trends, unemployment insurance benefits and appeal procedures.

* Review and evaluate case management records and appropriate documentation to determine quality of service and identify training needs.

* Interview clients to assess and record information regarding training needs, education, experience, skills, interests and other relevant factors to fully explore clients career development opportunities.

* Determine clients' eligibility for Workforce Development programs through exploration of needs, resources, entitlement issues and documentary evidence and explains requirements of available services.

* May refer clients to jobs based on employers' requirements and qualifications.

* Oversee or facilitate resource room, providing assistance with job searches, resume preparation and other work search related activities.

* Write job posting (s) when request(s) received from employer(s). Determine employers' job requirements, matches clients to current job openings and refers qualified clients.

* Accept/take job service and non-job service-related complaints.

* Prepare reports from WorkinTexas.com to identify incomplete applications and job orders.

* May organize and monitor job fairs in the workforce center, the employer's worksite or other selected site.

* Train staff and provides technical assistance.

* May make periodic personnel evaluations and recommendations.

* May conduct group orientation sessions to explain programs and services.

* May conduct workshops.

* May plan, assign and/or supervise the work of others.

* Perform related work as assigned.

YOU QUALIFY WITH:

* Four years of full-time qualifying experience in gathering information, interviewing or counseling; instruction, demonstration, and interpretation of policies in a public or private enterprise; direct social work; eligibility determination; customer service; or workforce development issues and programs.

* Fifteen semester hours of accredited college work may be substituted for each six months of experience
