Job Summary

The Substitute Teacher fills in for the classroom teacher in their temporary absence. The Substitute Teacher follows the plans and guide provided by the classroom teacher. This position reports to the principal.

Responsibilities:

• Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the school's mission.
• Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
• Support and adhere to the Standards of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school.
• Follow instructions set by the classroom teacher with logically sequenced objectives based on the adopted curriculum.
• Provide appropriate material and resources for students to engage in learning.
• Practice positive, consistent discipline in the management of the classroom.
• Maintain current and accurate records according to school policies.

• Knowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic Church
• Knowledge of instructional methods/strategies and curriculum differentiation

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor's degree preferred

Experience:

• Classroom management experience preferred.
• A substitute teacher responsible for a class for 50% or more of the grading period should have the same qualifications as a regular classroom teacher.

Certifications and Training:

• Valid Texas driver's license.
• Must maintain compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) policies throughout employment.
• Must meet the minimum requirements for the teaching field as set forth by the Diocese and TCCED.
