DOT/Fleet Compliance Specialist

Independence Excavating (IX) is seeking a highly skilled DOT/Fleet Compliance Specialist to lead our organization's vehicle compliance initiatives. You'll spearhead policy development, ensure DOT regulation adherence, and foster a culture of safety and excellence. This role requires expertise in driver qualification, safety program management, and regulatory compliance. Join us in championing safety and compliance across our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

* Policy Development and Implementation.

* Lead and oversee all aspects of development, implementation, standardization and management of vehicle Company Safety / DOT policies and programs.

* Ensure adherence to DOT regulations and promote a culture of safety though out the organization.

* Safety Program

* Develop a proactive, behavior-based approach, emphasizing personal responsibility and incident prevention.

* Implement, monitor, audit and take corrective action for driving safety programs.

* Conduct driver safety training program and enforce compliance with safety policies.

* Driver Qualification and Compliance:

* Manage Driver Qualification files including maintaining and updating all relevant information on drivers such as license, DOT medical certification, violations, accidents, drug testing and training records.

* Assist with audits, incident investigations, root-cause analysis, sharing lessons learned across the organization.

* Communication and Training:

* Communicate DOT policies and expectations to mangers and encourage participation in company programs.

* Organize driver training programs and ensure compliance with DOT regulations.

* Regulatory Compliance and Reporting

* Review Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR) daily to identify and resolve DVIR maintenance issues using established channels and software.

* Prepare and submit Federal & State DOT registration, licensing and compliance reports relating to IRP regulations i.e. 2290, MS150 etc.

* Monitor drivers' logs for violations and available hours of service while coordinating with team leaders to ensure driver compliance.

* Data Analysis and Reporting

* Utilize the Company's ELD and telematics system to build KPI's, benchmarks and standards.

* Responsible for IFTA data collection, reporting and file retention for all regulated vehicles.

* Drug and Alcohol Testing

* Manage DOT drug & alcohol testing program, including compliance with FMCSA clearing house requirements.

* Maintain driving records (MVR) for all Company drivers.

* Regulatory Compliance Updates and Initiatives

* Review pending changes to Federal and State regulations to ensure preparedness.

* Evaluate cost effective DOT improvement initiatives.

Do you have what it takes?

* 5 years of experience in DOT compliance, enforcement, or fleet safety systems management.

* Comprehensive knowledge of Federal and State transportation regulations; working knowledge of DOT rules and other regulatory guidance is a plus.

* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a data-driven mindset.

* Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders/leaders at all levels.

* Willingness to travel throughout the continental United States when necessary.

* Strong organizational and time management skills.

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

* Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and standards.
