Steaks, pork chops, kabobs… Oh my!

You’re passionate about protein, nutrition and quality cooking. You can talk roasting, grilling, frying and more. You’re also task-driven and thrive in a collaborative environment of friendly, hard-working people. That makes you an ideal choice for a entry-level position as a Meat Associate with Dierbergs. Responsibilities will include: 
  • Stocking, food handling, cleaning and helping customers – all general aspects of maintaining the department
  • Representing our quality products with expertise and enthusiasm
  • Learning about meat products and communicating your knowledge to customers
  • Promoting our products via suggestive selling techniques
  • Working with department equipment such as grinders, scales, slicers and knives; no big, scary meat saws (they scare us, too)
  • Making sure meat cases are well-stocked and look showroom-worthy—after all, it’s Dierbergs, and our customers have fine taste

What you need to succeed

  • A friendly, “customers-first” attitude to provide best-in-class service that Dierbergs is known for 
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Ability to work in varied temperature-controlled environments (refrigerator and freezer)
  • Ability to follow safety and food-handling guidelines and keep your work area safe and clean 
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule that includes weekends and holidays

Physical Requirements

  • Lifting & Carrying - Up to 90 lbs occasionally & 40 lbs frequently
  • Pushing & Pulling- Up to 50 lbs of force occasionally
  • Occasional - Sit, kneel, stoop, squat, climb, overhead reach & power grip
  • Frequent - Stand, walk, head turn, side reach, grasp, pinch, finger manipulation & feel
  • Constant – Handling & forward reach
