Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP is Hiring a Senior Hydraulic/Drainage Engineer Near Tampa, FL

We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Hydraulic/Drainage Engineer to join our team in our Tampa, FL office. This position will play an important role in expanding our presence in Florida and supporting our design disciplines within Florida and companywide. They will collaborate with teams within their region, other regions within Florida, and throughout WRA's market areas. The Senior Hydraulic/Drainage Engineer will complete drainage work for a range of transportation projects with the Florida Department of Transportation as well as municipalities, counties, and regional planning organizations. Our transportation project assignments range from small-scale intersection improvements to complex interchanges and new corridors. Responsibilities will include hydrologic/hydraulic (H/H) studies and drainage design, stormwater management (SWM) and erosion/sediment control (ESC) design and permitting projects through various Water Management Districts and regulatory entities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering degree required
  • 15 years of hydrology/hydraulics/drainage/SWM/ESC design experience in Florida and surrounding states.
  • Licensed as a Registered Professional Engineer or education and experience required to pursue registration.
  • Experience designing and permitting waterway crossings; storm drainage and stormwater management systems/BMP's; erosion and sediment controls; and preparing contract documents in accordance with Florida DOT policies and procedures.
  • Ability to independently lead technical tasks with minimum supervision and when appropriate serve as the project design lead.
  • Strong knowledge of Florida DOT specifications, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of FDEP and various Florida Water Management District regulations and procedures.
  • Lead the preparation of state and federal permitting and plans production.
  • Experience with H/H design software including ICPR, HY-8, NRCS (TR-55/TR-20); HydroCAD, StreamStats, HEC-RAS, et. al.
  • Experience with MicroStation CADD software. Understanding of 3D design, including OpenRoads Designer, a plus.
  • Experience with Alternative Delivery projects (Design-Build, P3, etc.) a plus
  • Ability to prepare technical proposals in particular the development of technical approaches along with the ability to do marketing presentations.
  • Excellent reputation as an engineering professional.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to mentor and train younger engineering staff.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others.
