Founded in 1972, DSC provides educational, professional, residential and behavioral support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Champaign and Ford counties. If you are seeking a rewarding and fulfilling job, we are currently hiring for the position of Direct Support Professional (DSP) for the Individual and Family Support (IFS) Program.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- As an IFS DSP you will support adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in a wide variety of activities and settings, with an emphasis on helping them to discover personally fulfilling pursuits, build connections, and enhance community involvement. While in the community, on-site, or in the person’s home you will provide opportunities to strengthen: important relationships; career and income; health and well-being; communication; life in the community; recreation/interests/hobbies; choice and decision-making; and future plans. Each day, you will be engaged in rewarding work where you will play an integral role in the success of the company and our mission to support people to live a rich and meaningful life.
- High School diploma or equivalent. Must be 21 years old and have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive an agency van.
- Ability to work independently and to organize and document accurately.
- Reliable transportation with adequate insurance to cover transport of individuals served.
- Must have sufficient physical stamina and mobility to push, pull, and lift.
- Full COVID-19 vaccination required.
HOURS:
- 40 hours a week, Monday – Friday. Schedule based on individual/family needs. Primarily daytime and early evening hours.
