Summary This is a training opportunity in the Ocean Engineering Department, Code 120, of PSNS and IMF to gain the competencies necessary to perform Engineering Technician duties. If selected, you will be placed on a Detail NTE 1 Year. *There will be no change in your salary during the timeframe of this training opportunity. Duties * You will be, under the direction of an Engineer or higher grade Engineering Technician, developing or modifying existing technical documents supporting projects related to mechanical, electrical, electronic, or structural engineering. * You will assist with job summaries, component unit identifiers, component unit phases, production work documents, and task group instructions required to accomplish overhaul and repair of engineering systems. * You will assist with identifying the required processes, facilities, trade involvement, specialized equipment, and material necessary for work accomplishment. * You will develop detailed correspondence, technical reports, estimates, fact sheets, status reports, forecasts, and schedules as required to complete project assignments. Requirements Conditions of Employment * This is a bargaining unit position. * MSP/PPP applicants must currently hold the required security clearance. * See Other Information section for additional requirements. * Both agencies' management and HR must agree to reimbursement details. A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) must be signed by the detailee and management. * Must have received a Fully Successful or higher performance rating on last performance cycle. * This detail opportunity may be rescinded if detailee fails to meet position requirements. * Per the preliminary nationwide injunction on E.O. 14043, COVID-19 vaccinations will not be implemented or enforced. For more information on vaccine status and workplace safety protocol requirements see Additional Information below. * You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. * Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing. * You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. * Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs. * Must successfully pass a Counter-Intelligence (CI) Polygraph on a random basis not to exceed every 5 years in the performance of the position.
