DeKalb Community Service Board (CSB) is an innovative, community-based behavioral health and developmental disabilities services organization located in metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia, offering a full range of mental health services, developmental disabilities programs and substance abuse treatment to more than 11,000 citizens annually who are uninsured and underinsured.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under general supervision of Program Manager and Director, provide direct service to adult men in substance use treatment residential program.
Assessment:
  • Day-to-day observation of clients
  • Ongoing assessment of the treatment environment to maintain a safe and effective milieu
  • Synthesize information from shift reports to ensure effective implementation of treatment plans
  • Facilitate urine drug screens and breathlyzer screens to clients
Communication:
  • Acts as a role model to demonstrate appropriate communication skills between other staff and clients
  • Provides mediation for clients in conflict situations and seeks professional assistance from supervisor when needed
  • Immediately communicates issues of safety and/or client health changes to supervisor
Delivery of services:
  • Provide basic nursing care and training for clients admitted to the program
  • Observes self-administration of medication for clients
  • Documents observations and care provided in the clients' individual medical record and/or unit logs (bed checks, etc.) as indicated
  • Conduct walk-throughs of the building to ensure client safety
  • Assist clients in keeping medical or psychiatric appointments
  • Transport clients to off-site programming and/or appointments as indicated or ordered
  • Verify documents pertaining to clients planned leave
Required to work holidays, weekends, or evenings.
Minimum Training & Experience:
High school diploma. Applicants will be required to provide a current three-year (3) Motor Vehicle Report prior to interview. Previous work experience working in a psychiatric/mental health setting.
Pre-employment drug screening may be required. Selected applicant will be subject of an FBI Criminal History Record Check, and the applicant has the right to challenge the contents of their Criminal History Record Information, should they choose to do so. This employer participates in E-Verify.
