Position Summary: Under the guidance of the Unit Supervisor, the phlebotomist assumes responsibility for performing venipuncture and related procedures under the mission, philosophy, policies, and procedures established by the hospital and department of Pathology.
Experience: 6 months to 1 year phlebotomy experience including pediatrics venipuncture and micro-collection.
Education: High School graduate or GED required
Required License / Credentials: Phlebotomy , Nursing or Medical Assistant certification preferred.
Other Required Skills: Excellent customer relations skills; math, verbal, and written skills at high school level.
Contact With Others: Regular internal and /or external contacts involving considerable tact, discretion, and persuasion in order to obtain information and/or willing action or consent where it would otherwise be difficult to obtain.
Supervision Given: Periodically take 'lead' responsibilities on a rotating basis.
Supervision Received: Works under general supervision in performing routine assignments, referring unusual or more difficult situations to immediate supervisor or designee.
Bi-Weekly Hours: 56
Work Schedule: Sundays 5am-5:30pm OR Saturdays 5am-5:30pm, Mondays 5am-3:30pm OR Fridays 5am-3:30pm.
