This position is responsible for the general supervision, instruction and management of a class between the ages of 4 and 5 years old.

Starting Salary: $15-$17 per hour

Starting Date: August 2024

Responsibilities

• To keep the learners safe at all times; must be familiar with all emergency procedures and aware of special conditions for the learners within the school. 
• To communicate to the Director any challenges, concerns and solutions you may have. 
• Help provide and maintain an environment in which the learner may grow physically, emotionally, mentally and socially.
• Prepare engaging, hands-on lesson plans that encourage growth and that go along with monthly and weekly themes. 
• Be responsible to have an adequate preschool program set up for your class. Learning experiences should be consistent and follow the order of unit/theme. 
• The teacher must follow a posted schedule and utilize the Early Learning Coalition Assessment checklist to ensure all required areas are being met. 
• Plan the program according to the needs of the learner. Remember that each learner is an individual whose talents, interest and pace of learning differ.
• Treat the learner with dignity and respect while encouraging independence.
• Implement the schools chosen behavioral system in a consistent and fair manner.
• Maintain a professional attitude at all times.
• Keep rooms neat, orderly and clean.
• Attend all staff meetings and school programs.
• Participate in recommended training programs and courses. Complete 25 hours of inservice annually between July 1 and June 30.
• Conduct parent conferences as needed. See the Director beforehand to review what will be discussed. 
• Be loyal to the school at all times. 
• Lead by example - Training up assistants to take lead roles and make our school stronger. 

Reports To/Work Status

• Accountable to the Director; will assist the Director in school activities and in keeping the policies established by the facility. 
• Full Time/Year Round or Full Time/Seasonal
• Monday - Friday

Requirements

Qualifications 

• MUST pass the DCF background screening process. 
• Experience in working with learners; a commitment to teaching is essential. 
• A degree in Early Childhood is preferred but not necessary. 
• 40 hours DCF training
• Must have his/her CDA or be working towards it.
• Experience in preschool education is required.
• All VPK teachers are required to maintain their CDA and any necessary coursework determined by the Pasco Hernando Early Learning Coalition.
