DASHIELL CORPORATION is Hiring a Project Controls Specialist Near Austin, TX

The Project Controls Specialist position is out of our Austin office located at 11501 Burnett Rd, Austin, TX 78758.

Primary Function:

The Project Controls Specialist provides general support to the project control activities of the Engineering Department. Responsible for creating and maintaining resource loaded schedules on engineering projects including resource management and cost accounting activities for the department.

Duties & Responsibilities

Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:

  • Create, update, and maintain engineering projects within the scheduling software provided
  • Update monthly forecasts, maintain client cost reports, project cash flows and transfer logs for multiple EPC projects
  • Successfully detect problem areas and notify Division Directors and Lead Engineers in a timely manner to allow them to apply corrective action to restore progress and minimize schedule impact to the project.
  • Report the status of the engineering performance progress, cost code budgets based on approved estimates and actual project charges, and milestone schedule adherence
  • Assist with monthly financial, pipeline, and backlog reports, project scheduling, budgets, performance studies, job cost analysis, yearend reporting, weekly man-hour reports, other projects and reports as requested
  • Finalize project schedules and manpower requirements
  • Create and maintain meeting minutes and action item logs
  • Report project progress reports to engineering leads
  • Generate and update progress curves as they apply to the project
  • Perform change management responsibilities
  • Identify Work Breakdown Structures (WBS)
  • Provide exception reports to management and project engineering team
  • Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work
  • Other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, business or other related field is required. Scheduling engineering projects using either Primavera P6 or MS Project scheduling software is preferred. Experience scheduling engineering projects within the Power industry is a plus.

  • Experience in project controls work as it applies to engineering and construction projects
  • Electrical utilities and power distribution experience is preferred
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Knowledge of planning, estimating, forecasting, scheduling, cost control, and project reports
  • Demonstrate attention to detail to accurately complete order entries, research for proposals, and complete reports as needed
  • Proven communication skills, both oral and written, to convey thoughts, ideas, and facts to a diverse group of individuals including administrators, engineers, and senior management
  • Ability to prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment to meet all deadlines
  • Proficient with MS Office including, Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
